One witness who found the victim that had been mowing the lawn described his wound as "the size of a coffee cup." Same description for the boy's wound.

Racially, I noted there have been whites, blacks, and Hipanics, but no Koreans or other Orientals and there are loads of them in the DC area. Hey Jeff, this is an interesting observation, don't you think?
I noted that there has bee no space aliens among the victims, hmmmm.......

The only possible connection I could find on a search of "Michaels" is that PETA doesn't like them. Seems they sell rabbit skins for some of their crafts. When I first heard about his poor little boy, my first thought was "It's like this monster is going people-hunting!"
Not meant to be taken seriously: What if it's some PETA-type nutcase showing people what it's like to be hunted like the "poor animals"?
Repeat disclaimer: No, I DON'T believe that, just being silly about the Michael's connection the media seem so enamoured of. I think it's some sicko who feels "powerful" because he can shoot down totally unsuspecting people, completely at random so NO ONE feels safe, make the cops and the populace crazy... and get the media to carry his sick rampage on national television complete with their inane comments -- or could be terrorists.
I'm so glad the little boy is doing better, will keep praying though!

You know if the shooter was smart, he would hit again at another Michael's and make them think it's a "disgrumbled" employee. Disgrumbled is Ted Williams description.......When this guy, Williams, said the school is only a mile away from a Michaels, I about fell over....

But the table full of guns that the LEO's put out for the benefit of the press--and then told the locals to report anyone they knew who owns guns and even went as far to say "even if they don't own .223's--you never know---"
They said locals should report anyone they knew who owns guns? YIKES! Own a gun, you're automagically a suspect? I do not like this! I want these creeps caught as much as anyone, but what a slippery slope!

Isn't a .223 exactly what you describe, a varmit round capable of doing a lot of damage?

Not to give TWilliams creedence or anything, but, he may have a point with like an artust this person(s) want to sign their work, maybe just maybe, Michael is their name and they're taunting LE to figure it out.

In this situation, the mother may have done the right thing, but as a rule of thumb, its generally better to wait three or four minutes for an ambulance. In the age of cell phones, it is quite possible the transportation method was a joint decision.
To: OWK
Either the wound size observation, or the suggestion that the round was a .22... is wrong. Channel 9 said the information that it is a .22 came from the paramedics.
The channel 9 anchor just asked why an aunt would take a 13 year old boy to school. Was there a problem?

Husband just came home, I'm still at computer. Need to follow those tips we all came up with a few weeks ago to convince spouse I've actually done a little work around here.

FYI, Montgomery and PG County schools are bringing in extra security today, and are not holding outdoor recess. Canceling classes was considered and dismissed, as it would likely create more problems than it solves.

Channel 9 said the information that it is a .22 came from the paramedics. I suspect it is in error.
(or the wound size observation is in error)

Nope. He is speaking of Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese ...which in my youth were called members of the Mongolian race but I do not know what the term is now.

Not meant to be taken seriously: What if it's some PETA-type nutcase showing people what it's like to be hunted like the "poor animals"? The odds of one of those PETA pansies having the hunting skills of this shooter are so remote, I doubt it. Put a gun in the hands of a PETA supporter, and he's more likely to shoot his foot off by accident than deliver a lethal shot at 150 yards.
