Having stood in front of a friend who had a gun to their head, I can tell you that all of the theories in the world vaproize. Folks who weren't there were telling us, "you should have done this, you should have done that." Short of watching my friend eliminate his bowels and bladder, I can tell you there is nothing to do except what you are told.

When I see a situation like this one, I would really suggest that it is unproductive and impractical for anyone to make comments about what someone would have or could have done. The parent reacted. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Don't knock the parent.

We're just trying to do a little deducting on our own re whether it's homegrown terrorism or part of the international terrorism we've been told to expect by extremist Islamists.

I don't know how the government can have it both ways. They have big news conferences whenever they arrest a "terror cell", mostly nuts who rather like the notion of operating within the US by joining, however distantly, the Muslim terrorists. Witness Padilla, the shoe bomber, and that group out in Oregon.

Then when we ponder that such as a killer sniper on the lose as being possibly such a kook, we are tin foil suspects. I definitely think this shooter could very real be one of those kooks on a freelance terrorist job. I'm not yet convinced it's any nationwide terrorist attack or part of any organized mission of the Al Queda yet. But to speculate that this could be an nutty individual besmirched with the notion of being part of a great Jhiad is NOT out of the question.

The DC locale makes me very suspicious, however. It's also NOT out of the question that this could be the beginning of something much bigger.

Bowie Health Center has a trauma center (or at least they used to a few years back) and it is VERY close to the school.

Seems that you're correct: "Bowie Health Ctr-Emergency Med" is a mile and a half from the school.

The boy must have been in need of something that they couldn't provide, however, since they moved him to Children's Hospital.

But, initially, probably not a bad decision on the part of the mother.

You're right but this DOES have an impact on the economy...we don't live near Maryland but have
already heard from a friend who is staying home from work today to be available for her elementary school children (the news about the shooting came through before their car pool left). Another friend has cancelled an appointment with a contractor so she can meet with other parents to discuss security issues. May not seem like much but when you take it and multiply it out across the country, there is bound to be a cumulative effect.

A Muslim who shot a deputy in my area after living at what was a terrorist training camp was said to have had sniper training. They do make sure their murderers are well trained.

I was not challenging you to a duel; I was merely commenting that it would have been beneficial to that poor 13-year-old child to be stabilized and transported to a Level III trauma center within "The Golden Hour," which is so important in trauma cases.

I'm not challenging you to a duel either but, I will bet you dollars to donuts, it would be 30 minutes or more before the that ambulance arrived. That is too long, for this situation. The kid would have bled out.

Superb analysis. It is more than likely Islamofascists. I don't know how many times I and others have posted that this was to be one of the aspects of terror al Qaida would bring to American shores--they've been training for this in Kandahar and elsewhere.

But WHEN will America wake up and connect the dots?

My prediction: A foreign news source rather than a US news source will be the first to start calling these actions what they truly are. Only because they are detached from it, can see all the implications, and further are not under the scrutiny of American media and police briefings steeped in political correctness and dancing around what the true nature of things are.
