Reporter on WMAL said a patch of grass in that wooded area was matted. The police thought the shooter had lain down there to get off his shot.

So what was the range? Was it next to a vehicle? What would have been the likely escape route? Why do they theorise the guy was not seen?

Here's a possilbe theory. The four shootings all together thursday morning were designed to get everyone's attention. He (they) killed one the evening before, and nothing hit the national news, but after the 4 additional victoms the next morning, it was everywhere. He/They like the mornings and the evenings. Within the next couple of hours we'll get to see if he/they hold to form or not.

There was another shooting this evening. They are too quick to rule out killings at close range. They could be related IMO. I think the shooter has safe houses that he's going to in between shootings. I don't think he's necessarily driving away each time.

There was another shooting tonight but at close range. They can't rule those shootings out which is how they are covering the close range murders.

Maybe at night when it's dark, the shooter uses a hand gun, approaches on foot and then returns to a safe house.

What we HAVE heard is Pat Brown on FOX news say they are probably looking for someone who has copies of "Guns&Ammo" magazine on their coffee table.

Wasn't the same gun used for the shooting on Georgia Ave. in D.C. Thursday evening? That was at 9:30 PM.

If they found a patch of matted down grass, the sniper's probably shooting from the very stable and accurate prone position. It indicates the sniper is using a rifle, not a compact (pistol size) weapon.

Seem to me that most of the shooting are within 2-3 minutes of an interstate.
