Steven Ambrose, in his excellent book, American Jihad, makes mention of several cases of Islamic extremist terrorism, in this country, which no one took responsibility for, but for which the feds and Ambrose knew were terrorism. They included individual sleeper cells murdering individual Israelis and Jews who were visiting and/or living in NYC, and shooting up a school bus loaded with school kids. It's a highly recommended book, filled with information you probably won't read or hear about elsewhere, and explains how these terrorists operate.

You two seem to be telling me that I should be scared, or that there are scared people out there.

Both are beside the point.

The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of the country have NO IDEA what is occurring in Montgomery County. There is little news coverage, none outside the cable news networks.

That makes it a very inefficient attack.

LOL.....! I learned to decipher the dialect while in the Army. Was in Signal School, Ft. Gordon, GA. I could do better with the crypto at times. The "Gullah" dialect is still very hard to understand.

"Even FMJ military ammo breaks up and causes pretty good wound damage"

It would take more than bone to break up a FMJ 223 (unless you got those junk, electro-plated bullets). It would take a more solid object to do this such as a brick or concrete wall.

Yes, twist rates have come down over the years and bullet stability depends upon the twist rate, bullet weight, length and velocity. Spin a light weight bullet too fast and it will loose it's jacket in flight, go the other extreme and it will key hole. You have to either buy what you want, or shoot what the firearm likes.

Given that, I think there's a HIGH probability these are AQ attacks...

A domestic nutjob wouldn't claim responsibility either.

Hmmm.... Here's an interesting non-sequitir: what about Eric Rudolf?

Has it been discussed as to why there were two bullets fired? Thats pretty good shooting to hit him twice before he was down. Or maybe he was down for the second hit?

Did someone hear two shots? It's possible to have two exit wounds from one bullet, as the projectile deforms and tears into pieces (often the core and jacket separate) on its path through the victim.

I am truly sorry if my comments offend the sensiblities of some of our more sensitive Freepers, (spelt "5") but, it is a regretable truth. I have spoken my piece and will now recede back into the lurking mist.

Please don't recede into the lurking mists! You've made some insightful comments and many are listening.

He would be lucky to hit a building. At least I fixed the first problem with the large initial groups with my rifle.

I still haven't confirmed solving the second problem of the drifting impact point as the barrle heats up. I still have to get to the range and work it from a cold barrel to a hot barrel. It's in the 70's today and I think in a couple of weeks I'll have my answer.

The "two bullet/exit wound" stories are both outdated. Single wound, bullet still in the kid.

On Route 301 south just after the Prince George's County line, the Charles County Sheriff's department is pulling over White trucks, like the type pulled over last week. I saw about 8 sheriffs w/rifles.

Could that mean witnesses have placed a white truck in the area at the time of the shooting?

"Hey, you're so quick to critiize, what is YOUR solution???"

Sorry~! It did sound sarcastic. It wasn't critisism. In fact, many's the time I've considered myself part of the 'unorganised' 300 yard perimeter around my child's school!

If you're a loyal, capable American patriot -- load some extra iron into the family automobile (like I do), and be vigilant!

I don't want to nit-pick, but just want to clarify it's Steven Emerson, and the book's terrific, in case anyone hasn't read it yet. He's a resident terrorism expert on msnbc, and I started hearing him years ago, and could never figure out why no one in the 90s was paying any attention to him. That was before I know all I know now.

I think you're right regarding the various police jurisdictions. I would add the timing for the shootings makes more sense when you take into account that in Suburbia you find less people walking around or waiting for buses etc. than in a city. The exception being rush hour when people are walking to or waiting for public transport.
Compare this with DC or Baltimore, where there is a much greater increase in pedestrians...the only issue for a sniper would be the traffic snarl encountered moving anywhere within the city. During midday, in these car based areas, you're hard pressed to find anyone outside.

No one took responsibility for 9/11, either.

Give it a year or two, and Ambrose will have written the same book... ;-)

Do you think they are competent enough to do so or are they your typical government employees who can't find their butts with both hands?

I guess we are going to find out.

It's impossible to protect from every random shooting, but we could certainly make it more difficult for them to target our schools.

I'm guessing desperation...

Just pull over every white truck, and hope you get lucky.
