I am not carefully following this thread, and I care deeply about this boy's complete recovery, but my guess is that KKT is going to make political hay of this by nightfall. I hope it backfires on the b*tch.

Okay...... South Carolina and some time around the Philadelphia area. Notice, he says "shootins", instead of "shootings". Common thing around the Philly area. I used to give my daughter hell about it.

Agreed on the effect of hollow or soft point ammunition. I note that Glaser also makes a prefragmented .223 round that might be even more leathal then what the shooter is using. I also note the .218 Bee, The .220 swift are among some of the other centerfire .22 cal rounds.
Stay well - stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

Not even an opinion? Come one, give over. You must have some opinion on this - it's almost Unamerican not to have an opinion!

Pat Brown says it would be a terrorist attack if there were a shooting in every state. He is wrong. The official criteria is every US state and US territory.
To: TomB
not very effective? The whole point of terrorism is to terrorize..this looks VERY effective to me..people afraid to do normal activities such as getting gas and going to the mall, and now scared about their kids at school

where are you getting your information? The Michaels store sits almost on 301. You can enter from 197 at the far end of the shopping center complex but you have to drive through the parking lots to get there from 197. Mitchellville Road is a left turn off of 197 heading toward 301. Target and Borders are also just off of 301.
To: Peach
LOL, OK, it could be a garden varity, home grown disgrumbled, nut job, or it could be real terrorist.....
To: r9etb
The victim is still in surgery and is still critical but stable. There are BATF people at the hospital.

I live in NJ and I assure you the police are dispatched FIRST.

Kevlar body armor is also valuable if you're involved in a car accident -- Many law enforcement types have been saved because they were wearing it when the accident occurred.
Of course, it could be illegal to purchse or wear it where you live. That is the case in some areas.

I find it odd that the public officials in Maryland who hate guns are proving to the public that they cannot protect them and they cannot even catch these people. Just goes to show you that even if you took all the guns away from the law abiding citizens it wouldn't keep you safe from those who don't follow the law. It also shows us all how stupid the anti-gun agenda is.

Right, they are not in the same shopping center. But both shopping centers are on 301. As I originally posted, Michael's is north of WalMart.

The 223 is not a super fast round compared to other 222 centerfire calibres. The tumbling effect of military ammo was a way to work around the Geneva conventions which do not allow spire (normal hunting ammo which mushrooms) ammo in war. A hunting round would cause more trauma than a tumbling bullet and that's probably what these guys are using. Military ammo does not tumble, it never did because of bullet design anyway. In the early use of the M16 there was a barrel fouling problem due to the type of ball powder. Tumble within a target happens due to density changes in the target, things like bone alter the direction of travel.
3000 fps from a 223 is plenty fast and faster than most. You will have a hard time pushing any 30.cal round that high unless you have a belted cartridge like a 300 Win. Mag.

I believe it is illegal to own body armor in MD

Too bad it's always to late.

Hmmm..you might be right about the Philly accent--I think the guy sounds totally normal (and I'm from Philly)
