Chief Moose said the shooter stepped over the line by shooting a child and that now it's personal. What was that about? Have they received communications from the shooter? Did they get a terror note or a ransom note or do they know something more about this than they're telling us? Remember, they locked down the schools on Thursday.

Most cops put the shootings of children in a much higher status than shootings of adults, for a number of reasons--most cops are parents, children are more defenseless and vulnerable than adults (even though the adults in these cases were just picked off by the sniper & equally defenseless & vulnerable). It's like the prisoners who kill or rape children at being at the bottom of the prison pecking order--cops have the same attitude towards those who kill or attempt to kill children.

But I can tell you that when our neighbor's child, a kindergartener, was murdered, the investigation was intense--and when the EMT testified at the trial of the murderer that he had to pry the child's body out of the arms of the mother, the EMT was crying, the hard-bitten homicide detectives were crying, the jury was crying, just about everyone in the courtroom was crying--except the defendant and his lawyer, of course.

True, to a point. Many Muslim women wear veils, and women have been hit. There is no indication that they were veiled. Most, albeit not all, Muslims in this country tend to be either Black or of Middle Eastern extraction. As far as I know, and I could be wrong, no one of this description has fallen to this sniper's bullet.

The question asked was not insane at all. We do not not who is shooting and what his motives are (other than to kill). We need to be asking all sorts of questions. The fact that the media does not do so encourages the rest of us to fill the void.

Police across three US states were searching yesterday for a 33-year-old whitesupremacist from North Carolina who they believe may be linked to the shocking series of random killings that have terrorised the Washington area over the past few days.

Yes, after some on FR have been talking about this for ages, as well as the reporter in OKC who got the ball rolling. I guess the authorities were hoping it will all go away but a lot of us just won't let it, and the numbers are growing in the country, of those who believe the OKC attack had ties to Iraq.

My guess is that there's a multijuristictional task force--the local, county, state & feds--and they've picked the Chief as their PIO (public information officer), perhaps by default, so that the press doesn't have to run from place to place & set up their satellite vans over & over. They've got the press and the spokesmen centralized.

Average .22LR projectile is 40 grains, while the average .224" projectile as used in the .223 Remington cartridge is 55 grains. The mass is more similar than you think; the bigger differences are the centerfire cartridge's use of a copper jacket and much higher velocity.

I would also point out that there are a number of high-power rifles which fire a .224" projectile and the same bullet designs can be used in all of those cartridges. Unless the ballistics experts are seeing rifling marks which are unique to a specific .223 firearm, the comments about the rifle to this point have all been speculation.

I know, he's under pressure. But he doesn't always come across well when he isn't mispronouncing words. He's also my sister's "boss" (as she called him). She works for Montgomery Co. PD. She said he isn't coming across well either.

You could keep "disgrumbled"!. My family kept "floobin". My sister-in-law misheard me say something about "that bloomin thing" and she asked "what's floobin?" :)
