Blessings and "staying power" to these homeschooling parents. The longer they hold out the brighter there kids will be.
Good place for a quote.... Adolph Hitler said
.Let me control the textbooks and I will control the state. The state will take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing. Your child belongs to us already
.what are you?

Hitler is alive and well, and running california.

If we don't let the state dictate the content in our newspapers, why should it dictate the content in our classrooms?

Very insightful quote. I help the homeschoolers here in Ohio by tutoring mostly math and science. I can assure you that the Ohio Educational Association is looking over California's shoulder.
What seems to escape most is that the homeschool parent does a far better job, on average, than the public schools do who have crdentialed teachers and $ millions behind them.

Adolph Hitler said Let me control the textbooks ... If Hitler had said half the things he's credited with, he wouldn't have had time to create so much mischief. Can you cite a primary source for this?

Probably Mein Kampf, most quotes of his come from there. A cursory search on google and you will find enough quotes to keep you busy all day, plus a downloadable version of Mein Kampf. If you get a chance read it, you can find an interesting quote per page (not neccesarily good, but it is chock full of one liners)

Ah yes, but I own a copy of Mein Kampf and do most my own quotes :) Google is a good starting point, but as with everything check the facts out for yourself before using before a public audience...

"What seems to escape most is that the homeschool parent does a far better job, on average, than the public schools do who have crdentialed teachers and $ millions behind them." It has been amazing in Texas to watch the number of children winning honors for academic achievement overall, leading tehir classes, winning spelling and math competitions - you name it - all from home schooled programs. My sister in law home-schools her kids in Indiana and after seeing the results, wish that my wife and I did not try the same.

Adolph Hitler in a speech Nov.6,1933 said:
"When an opponent declares, 'I will not come over to your side','I calmly say, your child belongs to us already ... what are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp, in a short time they will know nothing else but this new community." He went on to say, "This new Reich will give to youth its own education and its own upbringing."

Let them look. Obviously, people want to homeschool their children in Ohio. The "authorities" will never get that genie back into the bottle. It's gone too far. Delaine Eastin in CA wants kids to go to the miserable public schools, schools which have a 52% failure rate on the high-stakes exam that students take to graduate. The public schools have too much to worry about now. They should just let homeschoolers alone. At least San Diego's school board has issued a proclamation stating that parents have the right to homeschool their children. They aren't going to do Delaine Eastin's dirty work and look for "truants."

If the public schools were only focused on teaching, we would all be better off. Unfortunately, this is also about power and money - and the public schools want it all.
