For nearly two years, residents of Wichita, Kan., have tried to push from their minds the image of a young woman, naked and bleeding from a head wound, running for her life across a frozen soccer field.

But beginning today, the memories of "the Wichita horror" will be impossible to escape when testimony begins in the multiple-murder trial of Reginald and Jonathan Carr.

It's hard to believe something like this could get less coverage than the Jesse Dirkhising case but that's the way it appears

This story should convince any fence sitters to arm themselves. Heavily. And eliminate any hesitation about terminating with extreme prejudice.

Look what's back...

Think anyone will remember who these people worked for and what was going on at the time? Think anyone will still care?

Surprised by major network coverage I shoud say. The press is a prevaricator of facts. It makes its own news and is very creative just like polls. This countrys media is a machine set in place with an agenda. They manipulate facts to get their desired results. It is nothing more than a tool that liberals use to brainwash and hide the truth from the average American. As long as they can sell their garbage they will continue.I refuse to watch or read directly from "The Mainstream Media" product.

You know what really surprises me?

I thought it was common knowledge these days that if a criminal goes beyond mere robbery to kidnapping you or demanding you to get in a car AT ALL, that it means DEATH. Do I recall the details of the case correctly when I say that only one of the Carrs had a gun, and there were FIVE FRIGGIN PEOPLE AT THE HOUSE.

WHere were the men when the women were being treated like these scumbags private sextoys? ANd if they were being raped, doesn't that mean that at MOST only one gun was trained on the rest of the victims?

Reminds of that California case...what happened to us that we no longer fight for our lives?

I hope one of you folks from fly-over country can keep us updated on this trial. That is, if the perps aren't lynched first.

Hopefully the example set by Todd Beamer and the others on Flight 93 has obliterated that sort of sheep mentality.

I read where Court TV didn't think this was a good trial for National Exposure. If the roles were reversed would Court TV be carrying this trial?

Brad Heyka was an accountant for Koch Financial Services, a sister company of Koch Petroleum, and Aaron Daniel Sander was a former Koch employee who was planning to become a priest. The murders occured around the time of the California energy crisis. When reporters began to investigate, all of the records were suddenly sealed.

Here are some old threads about it.

I always get suspicious when parole boards just happen to parole people who obviously shouldn't be paroled--and then those parolees just happen to randomly murder people that investigators might want to talk to about an energy crises...

Gruesome photos admissible, judge rules

Carrs: Arguments get under way Monday in multiple murder trial
10/5/2002
By Roxana Hegeman - The Associated Press

WICHITA -- A judge ruled Friday that jurors can see gruesome crime scene and autopsy photos in the multiple murder trial of Jonathan and Reginald Carr. The brothers stood quietly behind their attorneys and looked intently at the evidence, presented Friday by prosecutors to defense attorneys and Sedgwick County District Judge Paul Clark.

The hearing was designed to give defense attorneys a chance to object.

The judge gave an hour apiece to the prosecution and each brother's defense team to present their opening arguments Monday. He told them jurors will also be allowed to take notes during the trial.

Ron Evans, attorney for 22-year-old Jonathan Carr, objected to the introduction of many crime scene and autopsy photos, saying they were gruesome. John Val Wachtel, attorney for 24-year-old Reginald Carr, joined in the objections.

The defense attorneys also wanted to exclude photos of their clients being taken into jail and what they called prejudicial photos showing the victims while they were alive. They also objected to including a photo of a dog killed the night of the attacks.

The Carrs are facing a combined 113 counts -- including capital murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, rape and criminal sodomy, among other crimes. Both brothers face the same 55 charges. In addition, Reginald faces three additional charges related to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say the crime spree began Dec. 7 when the Carrs abducted a man from a convenience store and robbed him. On Dec. 11, they are charged with repeatedly shooting 55-year-old Ann Walenta in a robbery outside her home. She later died.

The night of Dec. 14, prosecutors contend, the Carrs entered a Wichita home and abducted the five people they found inside, robbed them, forced them to perform sex on each other and raped two women before shooting them all execution-style in a soccer field early the next morning.

Four of them died, but one woman survived. In her dramatic testimony during a preliminary hearing last year, the lone survivor identified Jonathan Carr as one of their attackers but was unable to identify the other attacker.

The victim of an earlier armed robbery identified Reginald Carr as one of the two men who had robbed him days earlier. The man testified during last year's preliminary hearing that he recognized Carr after seeing a televised story about Carr's arrest for the quadruple homicides.

Prosecutors are expected to present DNA evidence, among other things, to tie the brothers to the crimes.

Defense attorneys have questioned the validity of that DNA evidence in earlier hearings.
