I will post my thoughts and observations later so lets get down to the pictures:
Check this out Troops!
The outnumbered,demoralized,useful idiots.
Look at all those TROOP SUPPORTERS!!
The anti's don't look like they are having any fun, GOOD!
It's FUN to be Patriotic!!
Beat Those Drums!!
Play those Bagpipes Paul!!
Patriotic music RUMBLES through Downtown Fort Collins!
We are truly blessed to have these guys with us.
The useful idiots gather in a circle at precisely 1:00, I think they are picking up their paychecks from the DNC.
NorCoGOP and his two fine patriotic sons. Cool!
Great conversations and the making of new friends makes FReeping even better.
This Lady is showing her support for "My" Soldiers, holding a picture of her brother who is shipping out,(can't say where, loose lips sink ships).
So there you have it folks, I hope this brightens your day and your spirits. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS YeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaa!!!!!
All the Best
FANTASTIC COLORADO FReepers
What a great group you guys have. Drum & Fife, VFW and some great American Toop Supporters. My hardiest congratulations on a great FReep job.
I have emailed the VFW here but had no response - we would love for them to join us. Any chance of a Co. VFW contacting a Fresno VFW for a little bump to join us?
You guys are truly an inspiration to all FReedom Freepers. Stay the course!!
Thank you all. Looks like you had a wonderful day.
DC FReepers: We need Bagpipes and a Drum and Fife Corps.
The USO Canteen FReeper Style has created some business cards that can be passed out to troops and veterans and anyone who supports them to let them know about FR and the Canteen. If you'd like a ready-to-print template for the cards, freepmail me with your email address and I'll send it. Or, you can go to this Canteen thread and copy and paste the cards into an Avery business card template.
Thanks for your support of our troops and thanks for your support of the Canteen.
This was my first FReep...and I'll BE BACK AGAIN. That is, on the next Saturday I have off.
During the FReep, some random young man about 20ish or so, wandered around looking at our signs...he then walked up to me to say "This is great...thanks for doing this!" I told him to join us next Saturday.
My FAVORITE moment came when my youngest son, all of 2nd grade in education, looked at me and said "Hey dad...this is what America is all about!"
By the way trteamer and fivetoes...the "Women in Black" are apparently mostly made up of wives of retired CSU professors...one of which my wife knows...
Again, it was a great time...if you've never attended a FReep before, do so - the people are great, and the time is fun and very well spent.
TRTEAMER had some of his signs stolen by the unwashed...it's OK, he sells posterboard, so they'll be replaced quickly.
Adding a few photos of my own ....
This is Joe. He and George (not pictured) were the two VFW Vets who started this all off a year ago October, contributing their own money for the big banner and the metal stands, and talking their fellow Vets into standing with them to support our troops.
TRTeamer demos the usefulness of 2-sided signs.
He had a rough day today. Just after I took these and left for the NE corner, he heard a loud noise behind him and turned to see a thief banging his knees hard on the side of the pickup he was hastily jumping into along with 4 of TRTeamer's signs! VERMIN!!! They drove off with them, and TRTeamer failed to get the license plate. Just one more demonstration of "Practical Pacifism 101," I guess. Who are they trying to fool anyway, with their pretensions to pacifism and non-violence?
Say, TRT - I forgot to ask for a description of the truck, so we can be alert if they ever come through here again. We'd better not leave you alone over there for very long next time!
My longtime friend Mike McCormick on the drum. He owns/runs Cache La Poudre Rifleworks a couple of blocks north of here, and has appeared as an extra in full Mountain Man regalia of his own design in numerous westerns (such as in the Rendezvous scenes in "Centennial").
Shy first-time Freeper! My daughter (right) loves to bounce up and down on the edge of the sidewalk with a good sign, giving a wave or a thumbs-up to passing cars with the hope of getting the same in return. But today she brought a new friend who's never done anything remotely like this, and who spent most of the hour hiding behind large signs! Heh, heh. I thought it was kinda cute.
A couple more VFW Vets, with the Ladies Auxiliary behind them.
RMRattlesnake's Better Half. Her sign expresses the core reason we're out here. We love our troops! Go USA!!
NorCoGOP and his wife and sons on their first visit here. They also won the prize for bringing the Youngest Freeper with them (she's off the right edge of the photo in a baby carriage).
SoftEngine and NorCoGOP. At the left in some odd kind of garb that said to me "60's Burnout" is a photographer who said she had friends on both sides of the street, and who wanted to capture both sides on her camcorder.
When she made some remark about innocent women dying in Afghanistan from the bombs, I reminded her that ALL wars since the dawn of time have killed innocent civilians - accidentally or otherwise, and asked her if that was a reason to never use military force. And likewise, given the fact that policemen will on occasion shoot innocent people, is that a reason to do away with all police forces?
She thought a bit and then answered, "I'm apolitical".
You bet! And I'm the fairy godmother. Nice to meetcha. ...... Well, at least she was polite.
This is the first time I've tired posting photos. Man, this is a lot of work!
I am soooo envious of your crowd. Makes me want to work harder to get out the FReepers around here.
Thanks for supporting our troops, past and present AND THEIR FAMILIES.
I have been missing being there the last two weekends. They have been productive however.
Here are a couple of shots from two weeks ago.
This is my lovely wife and her first ever big game animal.
This past weekend we went up to Lusk, Wyoming and picked up another praire goat. As I was enjoying lunch on the windy plains on Saturday around noon I could have sworn I heard the faint sounds of the fife and drum corps.
I am going to try to make it this weekend as I am Jonesing for a freep.
