There is visceral hatred on the Left for conservatives out there. Fortunately the more its expressed the more it makes them look like they're on the fringe and a bunch of goofy oddballs. Let's hope they keep it up.

"Al Gore left his stool and walked slowly, stiffly, toward his opponent, arms at his sides, palms pointed behind him, looking oddly like [a] robot. . . . Bush glanced over his shoulder, took a beat--and nodded once, as if to say: Hi there--be with you in a moment. The audience laughed, and Al Gore was finished for the night." I watched the debates in England and I remember being struck at the bizarreness of what Gore did that night (the walking over to Bush thing). I was literally like "what is this idiot thinking?" At the moment, my gut reaction was that Gore was going to push Dubya or something, and I couldn't get over that, what did he want to do with that gesture? Did he expect Dubya to flinch or back away? The only thing that could've happened is the thing that did- he wound up looking like a total moron. Did his handlers tell him to do that or was he improvising?

Al Gore thought he was smarter than Bush, and in the debates planned to take out this pretender. A couple of points,
1 in order to be a good/great leader you don't have to be the smartest person in the room, you just need to have really smart people on your side. Something President Bush understood when he put his team together.
2 I KNOW President Bushs heart is in the right place, even when he make a (IMO) a mistake I believe it's not because he's petty of selfserving, unlike a certain other(clinton) administration I could name. Bump and bookmarked.

A keeper for sure:
That time has now come, these factors are present, and that liberal can scarcely believe his bad luck. There are two possible explanations: Either he has overestimated the extent to which his worldview is shared by the public, or he has underestimated George Bush. Neither idea is appealing. What kind of a populist are you if the people aren't with you? What kind of an intellectual are you if you aren't smarter than Bush? How can people so smart, and whose views are so popular, be beaten so often by someone so clueless? The idea that George Bush is a gifted politician whose views are quite mainstream would make their world crumble. On the other hand, if they are so often trounced by an out-of-touch moron, then what does it say about them?

Wonderful! But why can't ANYONE draw the man to look like himself? The attack cartoons, in their rush to insult President Bush, feature so dissimilar an image that I believe they actually lose the point. Even the art on this magazine doesn't resemble the President Bush I see. I nominate FReeper Billie, who is the only person who has the talent to pull this off, I believe she already has a charming portrait done of our President. Pleae post here, dear Billie.

Over time I've heard many Republicans question the wisdom of Bush's failure to attack Democrats despite horrendous slanders and misrepresentations. Does he know something we and the 'Rats don't?
It reminds me of an old Dave Gardner quote: "Love your enemies and drive them nuts." ...Hey, it works for W.

"Whether by design or instinct, Bush has a history of driving people who are sure they're much smarter than he is to incredibly silly and self-immolating acts." LOL! And doing it very well!

"Bush's other destiny is driving Democrats nuts." Anybody who can do that has my respect!

President Bush has already completed the 1st mission destiny assigned him......keeping Gore from becoming President...
His second mission is to keep Hillary from becoming President....
His crowning achievement, for which he will be eternally recognized --- Is to defeat militant Islam.

My favorite line:
"How can people so smart, and whose views are so popular, be beaten so often by someone so clueless?"
I was discussing this with my intelligent, but very liberal mom the last time she was in town. Whenever someone even casually mentioned Dubya you could almost see steam coming out of her ears. The liberals contempt for him is fun to watch because it is so irrational.
Finally I gave her and her people a tip:
"Democrats are falling into the same trap they did with Reagan. One one hand, they accuse Bush of being a drooling moron. At the same time, they characterize him as an evil genius (he's manufacturing wars, creating elaborate geopolitical machinations to steal oil, etc.). You guys are just going to settle on one of these mutually exclusive positions, then run with it."
The blank stare was hilarious. They can't admit he's smart enough to concoct elaborate evil plans. But they also can't allege he's just a nice, dimwitted guy because that would reflect positively on his character. So they continue to spin themselves into a frenzy that even they can't make sense of.
Wow, it's going to be a fun two terms :-)
