Rosie's Rant: Sputtering in Rage in Interview with Couric
The Today Show

Posted on 10/04/2002 4:57:40 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Rosie O'Donnell just completed an appearance with Katie Couric on The Today Show that might well go down as one of the angriest, most vituperative displays in the annals of morning TV.

The interview took place in the context of the multimillion dollar lawsuit that the publishers of the "Rosie" magazine brought against her.

Katie tiptoed around, clearly uncomfortable asking Rosie tough questions. But to her credit, Katie had done her homework and did indeed ask some tough ones.

Thus, for example, when Rosie bitterly complained that the magazine refused to put a photo of the paraplegic Christopher Reeve on the cover, Katie piped up to say: "I understand that the photo was five years old, taken from far away, and not deemed appropriate."

Rosie was so clearly angry, barely able to control her rage, aimed at anyone, including Katie. Referring to some issue that had arisen on a TV show, Rosie accusingly asked Katie: "did you WATCH the show?"

Rosie was furious about the publisher discounting the magazine's subscription rate. Just a detail, but her rage was so evident.

Katie reading from lawsuit: "through summer of 2002 Rosie and entourage became increasingly abusive . . . and Rosie said she would personally 'take down' magazine unless she had total control."

Rosie naturally denied it.

In perhaps the most remarkable segment, Rosie bragged: "I have Mary Jo White as my attorney. Do you know who she is?"

Katie: "Yes. But please tell our viewers."

Rosie: "She is the #1 woman lawyer in the country. I told my people, get me the best WOMAN lawyer!"

Katie: "What of charge you were abusive?"

Rosie: "It's absurd. You know me."

Katie stuck to her journalistic guns: "In fairness I haven't worked with you."

Rosie then bragged: "I employ thousands, hundreds, of people. I'm the CEO." The implication was that as a big, powerful, important person with lots of employees, she was entitled to be very demanding and abusive.

"Come on, Katie, it's like, if you send someone out for a tuna fish sandwich on rye with no seeds, all of a sudden you're abusive."

Rosie: "I'm definitely bringing a countersuit and donating all proceeds to charity. This is about integrity. I am too strong to let people get away with this."

Katie: "Do you think, in explaining all the negative press about you in recent times, that there's an undercurent of discrimination against you because you came out as a lesbian?"

Rosie: "No. I'm getting more support than ever. 65-yr. old women at the hairdressers hug me and tell me how proud they are of me."

Just one, non-stop furious rant.

Nope..O'Reilly supports gay adoption and in an interview a few month's ago (with her)..he pretty much felt she is a good representitive for gay adoption. Sometimes Bill can be a disappointment....

Right. O'Reilly believes Rosie's 'kids' are best served by being raised by her (a militant homosexual) and her gay lover. They don't deserve their actual father, of course. O'Reilly - you've gone off the deep end on this one.

Rosie needs to schedule an Optrectomy.

This delicate operation severs the cord that connects her eyes with her rectum.

Hopefully, this will get rid of her crappy outlook on life.

Best woman lawyer? Well, you could start and end with Victoria Toensing, although I doubt she'd take on such a sure loser case.

Beyond that, who? The always-misinformed Lis Weihl? Loser Leslie Abramson? Whiner Gloria Allred? Judge Judy? Law and Order's Diane Weist?

Not all that many high-profile women lawyers out there, are there? And most of those seem to lose more cases than they win.

Heck, I suspect Janet Reno's looking for a job these days.

"...she wanted them to find the best "woman" lawyer."

By her comment, it's clear she was attempting to reiterate her "sexual orientation/preference".

He congratulated me on posting with all the accents and tildes and such, and I explained my proficiency by pointing out that I speak/type French, and thus have a need to know them. I'm only trying to be humble. :)

I noticed nothing over the top. She seemed like your typical woman with a, well, {hard on} against something. She seemed truthful, straighforeward, and rather bitchy, O.K. assertive, jeese.

And knowing her political stands to be juvenile, half thought out, hip shot judgements. just about what I'd expect from a democrat. And her being a dyke, no doubt theres a bit of pressure from that gene're genre too.

All in all, shes irrelevent, to grown-ups. Even Katie Couric seemed very adult. Not a small feat on Katies part. Red blooded psuedo-American childen playing at being adult. Like all democrats and RINOS.

All I want to know is if you got kicked out of any French war museums (les musees de guerre Francais) when you were over there. ;-)

I lived not far from Les Invalides in Paris, which I guess is a war museum, though I don't think I ever wandered in.

I used to frequent Willie's Wine Bar near the Bibliotheque Nationale and was friendly with a regular who ultimately turned out to be Princess Di's tragic chauffeur. Good guy.

The good thing is no one will touch Rosie with a ten foot pole after this stunt. I think its fair to say that Rosie is writing her own swan song with this fiasco. So long Rosie, insulting Tom Selleck was brilliant, moron.

"Rosie, it's Andy Warhol on the phone. He's calling to say that your 15 minutes of fame are over."

Well, it's been more than that, but hopefully her reign of terror is over.
