From an e-mail sent out earlier today:
**Tomorrow (10/3/2002) on the John & Ken Show, we take our $104,000 offer to Governor "Joe" Davis to his campaign office here in LA.That's the payoff we're offering him to debate Bill Simon on our show.
The location is 9911 West Pico Blvd. on the westside (we'll be outside on the sidewalk).
Check our website ("Newslinks") for the area map.
We'll have the money and tofu berry shakes and more goodies that we think the "gov" just can't refuse.
That's Thursday (10/2) beginning at 3 PM.
If you can't make it, tune in and hear the party on KFI AM 640, More Stimulating Talk Radio!**
They'll present the "last and final offer" $104,000 check in the campaign HQ at 5PM, where davis collects his bribes. (KFI has news and commercials on the hour, so probably a few minutes earlier or later)
They heard an ambulance, and joked that someone dropped dead from the tofu berry shakes.
You can listen live at kfi640.com using RealAudio. The commercials are probably muted out, if it's like other online radio broadcasts, so there may be several minutes of silence every quarter hour or more often.
A driver blared his car's horn as he drove past in the background, probably appreciating the Chicken and Hooker!
They are at 9911 W. Pico Blvd in LA (Century City). The nearby 76 gas station will allow free parking for those who want to stop by.
After the commercial break, they're going to talk about the dockworkers.
Go to this site, and click on the top picture. It will play the commercial for you all to see.
When I first saw it, I thought - good for them for helping him to not look so stiff--no ties and rolled up shirt sleeves--hair not so perfect, etc. But then....came the "I'm not a politician, I'm not perfect, but I'll clean up Sacramento. I'm Bill Simon."
I didn't want to say anything, because I'm sure they worked hard on it. It's good, except for him essentially apologizing for himself. You don't sell anything well by apologizing. You have to show strength and firmness of your convictions--show you can lead them out of their suffering. Tell people that you HEAR them and that YOU don't want to live like this anymore, either.
This equals: I feel your pain. I'm like you. I can lead.
From this commercial, we are left with:
I'm not...
I'm not...
but...
Not positive OR powerful.
Reminds me of (and rhymes with) the 1980's TV cop show, starring William Shatner aka "Captain Kirk": T.J. Hooker
Also, see another eGray connectin here. William Shatner did ads for "Priceline.com".... Hmmmm... eGray: Name your price and you may have a deal.
They will attempt to deliver the oversized check in the next hour, so I expect it will be after the 5:00PM news break. Of course, I don't see why the Davis campaign HQ staff will let J&K into the offices to talk with the staff.
On the other hand, the priceline commercials were annoying, so it's probably better not to parody them.
They can't find The Chicken, so perhaps he left, but the eGray Hooker -- RonDog -- will help present the $104,000 check in the next hour (5PM).
Reminder, the eGray Hooker will be at the debate at the LATimes on Monday!
Chants by the crowd:
.....hey hey ho ho,
.....joe davis has got to go
The guards won't let them into the building.
They won't comment, either.
John is in the elevator, but the guard are holding the doors so that it won't go.
chanters, still chanting, get in the other elevator, also held open by the guards who finally figure out there are two elevators.
Looking for stairs. Fire escape? Finds some, and enters. But, it's a stairway to the parking garage. Finds a map of evacuation plan. Huffing and puffing as he climbs stairs.
Security guard coming for them from garage.
Ultimately, J&K are unsuccessful in bribe attempts.
Gray Davis has goons protecting him. Davis won't accept this bribe.
Simon doesn't know if Davis will even show up at the debate on Monday. Says davis missed seven promised engagements, such as some women's conference.
The only poll that counts is the one on November the 5th, and Simon will win.
All Davis' attacks are false. J&K ask about the "not perfect" commercial. Simon reminds them that he's a regular guy, and will work really hard for CA.
Wait until Monday, if Davis shows up!
Davis owes Simon 4 debates -- one for each failed year.
Davis' baggage: Over $25 billion energy contracts, and another $20 billion excess in the budget. Hired 11,000 people after institutine hiring freeze.
Simon asked if there's a sign in front of Davis' office: All businesses should leave CA now.
Another sign: All people should leave CA now.
Tony Strickland is the one who sued Davis to release the amounts of his privately negotiated long-term energy contracts that he is trying to renegotiate.
The current total for Davis to debate on J&K is $129,000, including $45,000 to charity.
Will the new LAPD chief know better than to send a police helicopter on John and Ken?
