Actually I saw on the web a university model that showed how a Cat 4(or was it a 3) from the SW to the NE could cause an overtop of the levees(sorry, don't have a link, but it wasn't in an Isidore thread from last week). Circulation forces water into Lake Pont. and then as the storm move northeast the shifting winds force the lake south into NO.

I'm gonna get real p'od if this thing cuts off my supply of Cajun Ketchup!

Welcome Guy to the best conservative forum on the net.

So please tell us while we wait for the next weather advisory, what was the origin of the shower comment? Hint, I know.

Actually I saw on the web a university model that showed how a Cat 4 I lived in NOLA for three years. The hurricane levee system will survive a direct cat III hit. But not a cat IV. Had to be a cat IV.

Avery Island LA, Home of Tabasco Ok, that's it. Show's over, turn off the wind and rain. It is simply not allowable to threaten Cajun Ketchup!

Got relatives who didn't evacuate down there. If they're in NOLA, they'll be all right.

I got a FReepmail from Uncle Sham. He needed to stay put, but he and his family are in a strong building on relatively high ground. They're somewhat apprehensive, but should be safe since they came through Andrew o.k. Says thanks for support and asking to keep them in your prayers.

I used to think that too..until a read a study here..worst case is sriaght south..becasue east winds for days would pile water into the lake then would turn NNW and take all that water over the levee..also the area of LA just south of NO is more less water anyway so a storm wont weaken as much as plain dry land..plus the speed wont allow the storm to weaken that much before it hits....but it looks like it wekaening now over water

I take this very seriously and am sending my husband to the store to stock up.

Probably not a bad idea. It might be a while before they're cleaned up and back in full production again.
