That's actually not a half-bad idea.

Perhaps Racicot could enter the race in Montana as a "protest."

My guess is that the poll they are taking has nothing to do with the court. The Democrats are trying to determine if this issue will motivate enough outrage in next year's state assembly and state senate races.

It's not on TV and it is very ugly although Barone (Pub) is doing a great job of stressing the words 'military' and 'federal'. Get this to DC!

Can we get Hutchison to step down and put in Gov. Huckabee in AR? That would ensure victory.

We used to go through Decatur all the time on our way to Missouri. I still remember where the Steak and Shake is on Highway 36. LOL! That was always lunch!

Do not keep suggesting drinks. I told you airplane glue was beginning to sound good!!

Justice now saying that not allowing a substitution would deny NJ voters a "fair choice." Why? Don't they have a choice, with the other candidates?

Barone just made that point.

Bill can't replace him. Bill isn't a residence of NJ.

But we have to broadly interpret the residency law, in the best interests of the will of the people.

ummm..........????? Didn't we have just the opposite arguement two years ago and currently in Hawai?

Yep. In fact, there's an awful lot of speculation that they delayed taking Mink off life support until the day after the deadline primarily in order to keep her name ON the ballot.

Anyone with a ballot can write-in anyone they want! If the dems really think people want Lautenberg, they can write him in!

Where are the justices getting this idea that there is no choice, just because Torricelli pulled out??

Oh, apparently, the other party candidates don't matter.

The message to take a poll must have come from McGreevy.

Don't forget the mastermind behind all of this...bill clinton. He took a poll on what kind of vacation to take. Of course, he would suggest that the Supreme Court take a poll. That man is the poison pill of our electoral process. I detest him with all my heart and soul.

Barone: Torricelli has filed a document to withdraw. Barone now arguing that that withdrawal is ineffective under NJ statute.

Apparently, he owns property there, enough to qualify him to take the seat. I'm in the Philly radio market and last night an attorney said that possibility had been discussed a lot all day in NJ. The fact that he spoke with Torch Sunday night makes me very suspicious.

Even if this report is incorrect, all he would have to do is either purchase/rent (not sure of the law) in NJ by next Monday to run for November's election. Never underestimate this man and his unsatiable thirst for power.

Their Number is 609-292-4837

I called and got actual people. Told them this would turn all future elections into the same kind of farce if they ruled for the dems. They really didn't seem very interested though. They made it a point to tell me that it was not a poll, but that they were taking public opinion.

You keel hauled me over my claiming that there was no way the DNC would let Torch lose. I feebly tried to hold my ground. You pegged the Forrester swell, but alas it is now moot. Mid August when your coffee kicked in and your emotional enthusiasm for Forrester was sky high. Looks like we both win, and both lose.

How bad is it??

The thrust of the questions is how to accomplish printing new ballots.

Chief Justice (female) just brought up the rights of the voter and that we decry the lack of voters' rights in dictatorships!!

THAT is how she is viewing this situation?

Unbelievable.
