President Bush met with congressional leaders today to asks that they pass the Terrorism Insurance Agreement by Friday. Bush stressed the need to pass the measure so that 300,000 people could get back to work on $15.5 billion worth of projects that are on hold because of no insurance. The President also made it crystal clear that although an Iraqi inspection agreement is a step in the right direction, the Biden/Lugar resolution is just not strong enough. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Florida today to help promote reading. This evening, she is attending a fund-raiser for her brother-in-law, Jeb. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I think if they push this that there will be revulsion in other parts of the country and it will shift some tight races our way.

Richard Nixon difinely abused his power. But he loved this country more than his power. He at least had the class to do the right thing. And who know maybe he would have survived an impeachment. What he did was no worse then Clinton and I personally believe he was more honest then Clinton.

I agree with you P.....I believe if the NJ Supremes make a mess of this, the ultimate Supreme Court will correct them (just like Florida).....The DEMS are setting themselves up for a fall, as far as I can tell.

The US is becoming a banana republic with its elections. It is infuriating but even more so, it's really very sad.

This is how I see it too. The Dems trample and steamroll over laws, rules and the Constitution to hang on to power. Their leadership is bereft of ethics and respect for our founding principles. Very sad, and very frightening, especially considering they have loaded the judiciary with like thinking people.

Thanks PR. I feel just like I did during the Florida fiasco (although not quite as emotional). I go between delight and glee at the sillyness of the democrats and despondency and despair at the fact that they may get away with it. I want to have faith in the judicial process but I really don't think the NJSC is going to do the right thing here. Also, have heard too many reports that the SCOTUS will not take the case as it really isn't a federal issue. Yeah, it's a federal office but the states make the rules on how to attain that office, not the feds.

I'm drinking a beer so perhaps my mood will lighten as the night goes on.

I think that Clinton's abuse of power was way worse than Nixon's because Clinton's was only to cover up wrong doing of his own in his personal life.

This is precisely what I mean. At first, I think this is funny. Then I think a bit more and I think, sheesh...it's the truth and that's really, really sad and not funny in the least.

May God please allow the Republicans to prevail. I'll have to check out the senate race in Montana. It isn't too far away. Maybe I need to put my energies into that race. WE HAVE TO TAKE BACK THE SENATE!!

I still feel dispirited and hope you are right about the last laugh. It seems as if there is so much evil in the world headed our way, and rather than become part of the solution, the RATS are another front of evil we have to worry about.

Yes, it's true about the ballots in Missouri. Not sure how wide spread it is but I think it's at least a couple of counties. Hmmmmm....

If the New Jersey Supremes allow a reprinting of the ballot with the new name on it, and I'm sure they will (the fix was in before Torricelli resigned)....I do not believe that SCOTUS will interfere.

Two reasons: One, this mess is localized to one state, and under the Constitution, the legislatures of the States have the power to set the rules for picking Senators, and their courts have the power to interpret those rules. There is no national deadline, like applied for the Electoral College representation. And the legislature in New Jersey is Democrat, so they won't be stepping in and reversing any fix by the New Jersey Supremes like was going to happen in Florida.

Two, the US Supreme Court is still licking its internal wounds from involving itself in the federal election fiasco two years ago and would only get involved if another federal election were at stake, not a state election.

Don't let any of this worry you. There is going to be a reckoning, or a wrecking as a result of this.

I think it's all going to be too much for some family history Dems, Democrats who have been loyal due to family history and believing that Clinton was a passing embarrassment, like Republicans thought about Nixon.

But with Bonior and company in Baghdad, New Jersey pulling Mafia power grabs....I think there are going to be some reregistrations across the country in hearts and souls as a result.
