President Bush met with congressional leaders today to asks that they pass the Terrorism Insurance Agreement by Friday. Bush stressed the need to pass the measure so that 300,000 people could get back to work on $15.5 billion worth of projects that are on hold because of no insurance. The President also made it crystal clear that although an Iraqi inspection agreement is a step in the right direction, the Biden/Lugar resolution is just not strong enough. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Florida today to help promote reading. This evening, she is attending a fund-raiser for her brother-in-law, Jeb. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

My parents have been married for 61 years. Can anyone here beat that record?
I can't beat that, but we just recently celebrated our 10th. My parents gave us a year. I think we're doing pretty darn well. 8^D

I've seen this a lot. What does being number one or in the top ten mean?

Nope, only wine. I learned my lesson. Too many martinis and I can't type! LOL!
Don't get discouraged. I saw Doug Forrester on Greta's show this evening and I believe he will win. He was calm, good-humored, and brought up issues. He also wasn't afraid to debate Lautenberg if he ends up on the ballot. I think he has a good chance of winning no matter what the Rats do.

Also.....Hiring employees (and other Human Resource functions)
Used to be you hired the MOST QUALIFIED individual - these days you have to look at their color, sex, orientation, etc.....
Human Resource Departments (even in the private sector) have become an arm of the Federal Gov't

Nope, but my in-laws are hitting number #55 this November, and my husbands cousins will hit #60 next summer. (I hope your parents are happier than my in-laws!)

rintense, thank you for today's very handsome photos.
HappyInfidel, Brit Hume played fat-one-'a'-short-of-Barbara singing her Misery song and Brit nearly fell out of his chair laughing.
It must have been a lamp that Hillary threw at #42 because she didn't allow ash trays.

Health Care - if the government was NOT involved our health care costs would NOT be as HIGH as they are!
Then there's Social Security....the system that keeps on taking....started out as a benefit for widow's.....
Mtngrl....are you going to make a list of all these? I'd like a copy if you do to use in the future. Thx

I think there are going to be some reregistrations across the country in hearts and souls as a result. I've been trying to get the straight story on this for years. I was registered I think as a dem -- I didn't realize years ago that party registration was determined by which ballot you choose in the primaries-- even though I voted pretty much half and half over the years till the early 90s (and now I will never vote for a dem again in my life, of course).
I've tried twice to re-register as a Republican, but I've gotten the run-around when I try to do this.
They tell me that it doesn't matter how I'm registered. I tried to switch at my city hall, and I called the League of Women Voters to get information on this (before I found out what a lib group they are).
Anyone know whether it really doesn't matter how you're registered (of course I don't believe anything they tell me) and why I shouldn't be able to switch if I want to? I should add I live in a very gore-ish part of the world.
To: texasbluebell
In some states it matters, because how you are registered determines the Primary ballot you can vote on - if you're a Dem, you get to vote on the Dem's for the Primary - likewise for the Repubs....I tried being an Independent once (in Oregon) and found this out the hard way - couldn't vote for Dem or Rep....

Rintense, Great pictures tonight. I love the close ups. If our W is tired, well, he should be tired. Tired of all the Rat shenanigans and obstruction. What in the world are these Rats thinking???
Lefty4W and ReaganandDubyaForever WELCOME to the best site on the web.
Mtngrl, thanks for posting those Psalms. They really help to keep things in perspective. This latest Rat stunt in NJ has just made me crazy!!!
To: Wphile
OK- This is one of my limited attempts at posting a picture at the dose...
To: McLynnan; Kath
I hope it is as Kath suggested, that he looks tired, isn't sleeping well becasue Laura is away :)
Yes, that hurricane is, indeed, tracking near me. Right now thye think landfall will be somewhere between Lake Charla LA and Houston, Thur. afternoon, between 1-4pm. They think it will be a Cat 3 by that time, 111-130 mph winds. If that holds up, I'll be on the east side of the winds and that ain't good. They think we'll have more damage from this one than from Izzy. Lots of folks haven't been able to get back in their homes since Izzy and now they are faced with another one. Please, keep us in your prayers
