The Paris based Al-Muharrir news weekly said in its recent issue that Iraqi Foriegn Minister Naji Sabri informed the Secretary General of the Arab League that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is ready to put his resignation at the disposal of an Arab summit to be held in Baghdad, being plenary or mini, but he stressed Saudi Arabia participation in the summit is necessary.
The paper quoted Sabri as saying to the Arab League Chief, Amr Moussa, that Saddam Hussein welcomes the Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz which he considers 'a friend and a dear brother.'
The magazine also said that according to well placed sources, the Iraqi President enthusiastically showed readiness to attend a mini Arab Summit if such a summit is held in Saudi Arabia.
His one son is worse than he is. Even Saddam vowed to kill him one day.
There were videos smuggeled out of Iraq that showed his son and some "Elite Leaders" (who's faces weren't shown), watching the grusome scenes of people impaling themselves and other forms of self mutalating "entertainment". The torture was to prove to Saddam Jr.( and his guests) how "much they loved him."
I'm sure Saddam Jr. was holding their children hostage or something behind the scenes, though. No man would drive a nail through his head just because he "loved" this horrable mad-man of a dictator.
I don't remember which news show aired it. It would be 60 minutes, 20/20 or a show like that. I remember it was really, really, sick.
It was before the Democrats starting showing their love for Saddam, so the liberal media showed it.
Not a very reliable source.
You might as well quote a democrat!
Ya mean sorta like Terry McAwful and THE SCUMBAG? Maybe they've been giving SH lessons.
Snipers, time to zero out your scopes!
Would you trust Saddam? Would he really step down for the very same people he mass murdered to test a gas weapon? Those starving and without medicine, yet he himself is filthy rich?
IF he resigns, better take cover. He's not just being nice. There's a bigger, scarier plan, no doubt.
(Never trust a friend of a Democrat. They have the same goal in mind.)
I hope he is shivering in his boots, that his palaces provide no feelings of safety, the his paranoia about traitors among his ranks intensifies and that, finally, he runs.
People from his own nation, people he has abused and hurt will seek him to the farthest corners of the earth.
There is no way in hell this can happen. First off,if he were to agree to step down and leave,he wouldn't be there to keep his foot on their necks. He's a dictator, not a popular elected president. He rules,he doesn't lead, and he rules through fear. If he is living in another country and not in daily control of the army and the police,he no longer has the means to threaten. Secondly, the reason all the above is true is because monitered elections would be a part of the deal, and there is no way in hell a elected government can allow Saddam Hussein to retain any power. Their own lives would be at risk. Hussein and his whole family would have to leave Iraq for him to get this deal.
He knows he's a marked man. A meglomaniac like him is more likely to say, "If I gotta go, I'm takin' y'all with me!"
That's much more dangerous a situation, and exactly why we have to take him out. Let's put it this way: Would you rather take out Dr. Doom with all the juice of Latveria behind him, or just him by his lonesome?
Sounds like arabicnews.com = DEBKA
They need the money and will probably build a statue of him next to the beloved Juan.
Yeah, but something tells me they didn't have much choice in the matter.
