I was a normal kind of guy. I ate food went out for walks and even watched videos, eek! I took the wife shopping. Even talked to the wife once in awhile.
Then that fateful night of Nov 7th 2000. I had to go somewhere else to to watch the election results as I do not have Cable TV. I went to the pizza joint on rt 7 and then to my secret election watch hide out.(No one to interupt)
I wanted to watch Bush beat the socks off of Gore. I new it was going to be a great night. Little did I know I would never sleep that night or for the next 5 weeks.
It took me till the end of November to find out I was not alone. That there was a freerepublic.com.
Before I would tell people the truth and they all wouldn't have a clue or they thought, this boy is NUTS! It was a lonely life thinking Am I The Only One that sees what is going on with this country and what the liberal bias media and the leftist democrats were doing to it, let alone the Clintons and Reno.
Well to make the story short. I was watching the news and these great people were on TV saying get out of Cheneys house. There it was the sign said Freerepublic.com. I copied it down and ran to my computer. I typed it in and sure enough The NEW WORLD WAS RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!
I think what would my life be if there was not a FR. If the rest of you were not here. That was enough to make me sit up and take notice. What can I do to make sure FR is here forever. Then I found out all I had to do was support the place and along with 70,000 other members make FR home. That we could change the world from here and with hundreds of thousands of people stopping by everyday we could tell the whole world the truth.
I would not trade all of you fine FReepers for any other world.
My life has never been the same since I found www.freerepublic.com (What about yours?)
Ok everyone has your life been the same since logging on to FR and what adventures have you had?
Ha ha ha, so much for "small government" phoniness. Cultural conservatives are AUTHORITARIANS and they will institute an authoritarian government if they gain power.
General conservative principles include:
"Eighth, conservatives uphold voluntary community, quite as they oppose involuntary collectivism.... In a genuine community, the decisions most directly affecting the lives of citizens are made locally and voluntarily. Some...are carried out by local political bodies, others by private associations: so long as they are kept local, and are marked by the general agreement of those affected, they constitute healthy community. But when these functions pass by default or usurpation to centralized authority, then community is in serious danger."The general agreement of this voluntary association is that Jim administers his site as he see fit. There are plenty of other sites to associate with if his administration is to much contrary to one's taste or opinions.
Many conservative thinkers submit to the limited government concepts of the Constitution as adopted, despite ideological differences with its compromises and limitations imposed by its authors' time in history. Other's can't abide such reasonableness.
To some, that is an invitation to "authoritarians" to others it is simply respect for our heritage and republic as it was founded.
As Burke says, Men of intemperate minds can never be free, their passions forge their fetters.
Duh! He just happens to see fit to be petty.
You have made that contention so repeatedly that it is beginning to appear you have nothing else to contribute. Why not?
JediGirl's posts can be found here:

(To be fair, he did keep repeating it in the face of every attack on his reasoning, and your displeasure at his refusal to stop saying so, considering the importance of regaining the Senate majority. He did also state that just because a candidate was on the GOP ticket did not mean that they were necessarily the better candidate, but I think that is a reasonable position... just look at Zell Miller and his usual opponents!)
How does that banning compare to posters (and posts) like MurrayMom and her incessant "Repukie" comments? I'm pretty sure she won't be voting a straight-line GOP ticket next month. There are also PLENTY of Libertarian and Constitution Party supporters on FR. Are they risking a similar fate if they post their non-GOP voting preference in a Senate race?
But still, I have to wonder if the ban was appropriate, since it is basically founded on his voting preference (as evidenced by the ban's ending date) in just one race. That just seems soooo wrong for a site as strong and founded in Freedom and Truth as FR is.
We finally dumped the AOL account and I gave up on converting any of their liberal members, but I continued to lurk at FR for a few more years. I feel as if I know so many of the regulars here because their posts have been a part of my life for so many years. The first thing I do every morning is get a cup of coffee and get my news fix on FR, and it's the last thing I check at night. MAYBE I'M ADDICTED, LOL?
I resisted my urge to register for a long time because I was pretty sure my addiction would only get worse. My family already thinks I'm slightly obsessed! Finally last spring I couldn't resist the temptation any longer and here I am. It's a daily fight to tear myself away from this computer. Maybe a 12 step program..........nah!
Uh interesting that you omitted the name of the North Carolina democratic candidate for Senate, Erskine Bowles, Clinton's Chief of Staff.
Oh get over yourself. Claiming JediGirl was "disruptive" is simply laughable. Are you that weak? Don't any cultural conservatives have enough backbone to withstand the questioning of a 17 year old girl? Puleeeze!
