ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Maryland (AP) -- A lieutenant colonel at the Army War College pleaded guilty Monday to killing his wife, saying he beat and strangled her as they fought about his use of the Internet to find pornography.

Lt. Col. David Bartlett Jr., 46, reached a plea deal with prosecutors in the slaying of his 39-year-old wife, Suzanne.

I knew it would come to this. Once they let Mike and Carol Brady appear on television in bed together, I knew soldiers would eventually graduate to porn and wife killing.

But covering up Barbara Eden's navel on I Dream of Jeannie was supposed to counteract that.

If pornography is neutral, can we show it to children?

Can we show it and provide it to teens?

Naw, it was when they had Gregg checking out Marcia thru the back lite sheet.
Marcia in the 95 movie was played by Christine Taylor

In reality I don't think small children would be especially interested in porn. It would be about as appealing to them as watching suma wrestling.

If one is into S&M porn, it can lead to killing (accidental or deliberate).

Debbie does dallas and similar porn does not cause murder: If it did, we'd have a lot more dead wives and girlfriends.

However, men who overdo it make their wives unhappy...

The state has a vested interest in the family, as good familes are essential to the good state. Porn wars against the family. There is no love or committment associated with sexuality in porn. People are viewed as objects.

Porn is like pollution and can be addicting like drugs. We have no problem outlawing polluters. If it is addicting then it wars against the free will. Such "free choice" to view porn is only an illusion of choice.

I think it should be outlawed by states and localities alike.

You libertines can flame away all you want. This Colonel got angry when someone who cared about him tried to take away his addiction too.

Nope. Neither should children engage in prizefighting, drink hard liquor or attend courses in forensic pathology.

You, of course, are entitled to restrict your experiences to only those things that are appropriate fare for a child. I only object to such restrictions when they are imposed on other adults.

If ADULT porn caused murder, then half the country would be dead and the other half in jail.On the other hand I believe kiddie porn, whether real or "virtual"moves those sick pervs who kill children to act.

That's the argument my wife will use someday to get book collecting and Flyers hockey banned. :-)

You are correct ..I will raise the bar one more inch where the pro porn posters do not want to go. The Bible says if you lust in your heart you have committed adultery..So this killing was not about porn it was about this mans adulterous heart

Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Where is your call for laws prohibiting chocolate, soap operas, exercising, dieting, plastic surgery, credit, fast food, and a host of other things some find addicting and personally destructive? I doubt you have any serious committment to liberty, and no doubt that you believe yourself a better judge of what I should be doing than I.

Seems many are in denial....while the $10 billion/year industry marches on. While most surveys and researched papers indicate that 85% of all porn eventually falls into the hands of minors, we are still in denial. While women and children suffer the most in this sex-soaked environment, the nation denies that there are any victims.

In fact, I have a friend who recently told me his pastor resigned after being found to be ensnared in e-porn. The pastor never repented because he claimed his sin "didn't involve anyone else." If his wife was feeling like chopped-liver before that statement, can you imagine how she felt after hearing that he didn't even consider that he had sinned against her?

You know, I agree with you. However, I really don't see where you, I or any of those "pro-porn" (as you describe them) defenders disagree on this. We are all agreeing here that this guy was a degenerate psychopath who killed his wife, and does not deserve the benefit of some lame excuse.

As I see it, this is not a matter of "defending" porn. It is a matter of rejecting excuses.

Can you people not read?

The headline is a canard to get blood pressures up.

This was a domestic dispute brought on by several days of acrimony over his viewing porn. Looks to me like Mrs. pushed a little farther than prudent.

You do realize that you are giving this psycho thug a lame excuse for what he did, don't you?

While I do not condone a married man looking at porn, I agree that the title could just as easily read:

"Army Colonel: Nagging Led Me to Kill My Wife"

However, this is ONE instance where I feel a wife is justified in nagging. This guy is a creep.
