The state has a vested interest in the family, as good familes are essential to the good state. Porn wars against the family. There is no love or committment associated with sexuality in porn. People are viewed as objects.

Porn is like pollution and can be addicting like drugs. We have no problem outlawing polluters. If it is addicting then it wars against the free will. Such "free choice" to view porn is only an illusion of choice.

I think it should be outlawed by states and localities alike.

You libertines can flame away all you want. This Colonel got angry when someone who cared about him tried to take away his addiction too.

Why you would call me a libertine is beyond me.

Where is your call for laws prohibiting chocolate, soap operas, exercising, dieting, plastic surgery, credit, fast food, and a host of other things some find addicting and personally destructive? I doubt you have any serious committment to liberty, and no doubt that you believe yourself a better judge of what I should be doing than I.

You make the most sense out of all these "libertine" posts. The husband was not going to be told he was wrong, to stop, that he hurt someone with his actions, or that it should be taken away. Crack cocaine to many on the internet, I'm afraid, and easily accessed. Even unsolicited and I am ready to ban it because of its unwanted intrusion into my e-mail and even on Drudge. When I clicked on a link Sunday night on Drudge, I was redirected to a porn site. I did not want to go there but was taken there. My children can be and are assaulted by this garbage without having sought it out. It is time to stop it. For the men who get hooked and seek more and daring stuff, what length would they go in order to keep their fix coming?
