Torch's plan is to resign now, which the RAT Gov would replace and then call for special elections.

He returned to the White House from Crawford about an hour ago. I saw a clip on Fox.
He is probably in a meeting with Rove and racicot and on the phone with Forrester. Bring on Guiliani, I say!

"The Dems are so desperate for power that they cancelled an election."
Needs to be repeated.
Also, we need to really REALLY harp on the fact that, if Toriccelli is sooooo guilty, why didn't the Ethics Committee give HIM the boot, al la Traficant? BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO LOSE OBSTRUCTIONIST POWER IN THE SENATE, THAT'S WHY.
To: Dog
Of course they have talking points already. They are the ones who set this all in motion today.
Writing on the wall, Torch was going to lose. So the DNC turns to a risky tact to try and save the race. But more importantly, its another chance for them to muddy the waters, demagogue, try to reinforce the old stereotypes that they throw at the GOP, and to increase division in this country.
With Bush staying popular and races trending negative, they are just returning to their standby tactics of division and emotionalizing. Whaddayawannabet that every DNC spokesperson will compare this to Florida, and claim that its just another tactic by the GOP to thrawt the will of the voters. May not work with the swing, but might with the ignorants, and an attempt to fire up the base. Just like with the turn towards attacking Bush's position on Iraq. Its harder to think clearly with everyone in the room shouting, and the DNC is simply adding to the voices and volume.
The shrillness has just begun.

. Bring on Guiliani, I say! No, NY needs him to run against Hillary. Get both Clintons out of power.

the sooner y'all realize that these socialist bastards are as much a threat to our constitutional republic as the salami goathumpers,
the less often you'll be surprised by crap like this, and the better off we'll all be ...

Sen. Bob Torricelli, D-N.J., practices his Richard Nixon "I am not a crook" speech and gestures during a union rally to support his re-election bid in Trenton, N.J., Sept. 23, 2002.Did that really SAY that?!?

Re:Rush reporting a joke email on air that Clinton has been seen cruising in New Jersey looking for real estate.. I dont even know if it's implausible enough not to think about it!
To: Dog; Wphile; Miss Marple
The Dems are arrogant - unfortunately, the arrogance got them into trouble, and now, they are getting desperate.
They do NOT have the funds to defend the Torch and to hold some of the seats they need to hold (not to mention take a couple like TX, AR, and CO). This is a sneaky attempt to save the Senate (they have written off the Torch, and possibly that seat).
Now, the delay, IMHO, is a problem for them. This could backfire - and it's also got to help fire other conservatives up, especially if it does knock Forrester off in `02.
This is a "Hail Mary" to keep their base together, but it might only fire up our guys. This is VERY brazen, but it's got to be desperate. They have to know they're going to lose seats.

Its about firing up the base, while forcing the GOP to join in their mudbattle and thus depressing swing voter turnout.

Torch's plan is to resign now, which the RAT Gov would replace and then call for special elections. If he resigned now, the replacement would stay until Jan 03. There is no way they can just appoint someone for two years because he resigned. That would have such a destabilizing effect upon ALL elections. Not that the Dems would mind, but legally, I don't think it'll fly.
