I am from NJ. If this indeed happens, it cannot stand. No way can we be prevented from voting.... Get all the players from 2 years ago in place and let's have at it in the US Supreme Court.

They will do ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING to keep power

I know, I know. It's just so nauseating. I swear Bill Clinton has done more to destroy the political process in this country than any other single human being. The man is sick. If this doesn't convince the people that the democrats are scum, nothing will. What a frickin' disgrace.

I think that this would apply only if that "next general election" were one that occured in the middle of a term (say, if the Torch's term ran until 2004 and he decided to call it quits after 10/6/2002).

The Dems in NJ CHOSE Toricelli...so sorry that was a lousy choice. And they had all the information they needed to make that choice.

I hope we scream this from the rooftops.

If these RATS are contemplating what I think they are contemplating, I hope every Senate race in the country explodes in their f__ing faces. This is unbelievable.

I don't think so...you've got a long way to go until you reach the level of Florida.

Linda Vester pressing the Rat guy on who will be chosen to replace the Torch. Any of our candidates would be good, he said. Attacking Forrester again. He is slime.

Linda asks D'Amato about Lautenberg, and Al doesn't think Frank might want to go back. Al thinks Bradley would never do it.

Yeah, but think of this:

We get all over this on the NATIONAL shows: Limbaugh, Hannity - major ad campaigns in other "red zone" states. We play our own scare card for our base: "The Dems are so desperate for power that they cancelled an election."

We're not facing a political party - we're facing a mafia like the frickin' Gambinos.

Rat commentator hyping Forrester's bad record on Superfund Clean Up

That was none other than that lying, sleazy, scumbag Gore campaign spokesman Doug Hattaway, Chris Lehane's running buddy. Can't begin to tell you how much I dislike that man.

Whatever RAT ends up on the ballot, Forrester needs to SLAM
the democRAT party for having the crook, Torricelli
resign ONLY because he was going to lose, not because
it was the right thing to do. Hammer home the
fact that the rats in congress had the chance to
make a stand for principle over party and ask him to
resign back when he was "reprimanded",
but, as usual, they chose party over honor .

Rat lawyers believe appointed candidate would serve until end of year. Then a special election would be called.

Horridly-flawed analysis on the part of the RATs (as usual :-) Unfortunately for them, Congress, using the authority given to it by Article I, Section 4, set the date of the election.

Even if the RATs are right on this, the special election would need to be concluded and a winner certified prior to 1/3/2003 (the opening date of the next Congress).

Correct. I hope Racicot and Rove are writing a new playbook even as we speak.

Even under the reading of the law that would allow them to cancel this November's Sentate election...

Aren't there equal protection issues? If NJ can cancel an election because they don't like the slate of candidates (or the chances of one party winning over another), then what's to stop Missouri or South Dakota from doing the same? It is unfair to the voters of other states if one state is allowed to alter the election process in order to influence the outcome.
