[history]
U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin said this afternoon that his campaign manager and a low-level staffer had resigned over a "Dennis the Menace caper" in which a meeting of his opponent's campaign was secretly taped, then leaked to a reporter.
"It appears these shenanigans were the work of one young staffer who didn't have enough supervision," the Democrat said.

- U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin said this afternoon that his campaign manager and a low-level staffer had resigned
- "It appears these shenanigans were the work of one young staffer who didn't have enough supervision," the Democrat said.
- He acknowledged, however, that the taping was done at the request of one of his staff members, Rafael Ruthchild, 21
- The tape allegedly was made by Brian Conley, 53, of Des Moines
There's fuzzy math in this thing... the Young Staffer, who's 21 - so that's the CAMPAIGN MANAGER? Tape made by a 53-year old? Am I as think as I drunk I am? LOL

Am I reading this correctly? The 21 year old has that much control? Forget the staffers resigning. How about Harkin?

I would love to find out what Harkin said about Linda Tripp's taping of Monica.

Nah... the math is right... It's common practice in the demo-rat party to pair 50-ish men with women in their early 20s - especially for 'undercover' stuff.... ;0)

You mean that if John Mitchell had resigned, Nixon wouldn't have had to resign?

LOL!
Well, at least Mrs. Harkin has a sane bone in her body.
A year or two ago, it was revealed in (IIRC) Senator Harkin's personal
wealth disclosure that the Mrs. has a fair-sized chunk of stock in
Conoco, one of those EEEVVVIIILLL oil companies.
(Or course, that is or will soon be Conoco-Phillips, due to the merger).
My memory may fail me, but I think Mrs. Harkin had something like $500,000
of the Conoco shares.

Conley was a congressional aide to Harkin in the mid-1970s, but the senator said he barely recalls him.
"I can't remember the last time I saw this guy." Sure .. Right ..keep talking

Tom Harkin does not implode. This prairie socialist will stand alongside "Comrade Fidel" and fight for socialism to his last dying breath. Too bad the people of IA can't understand what kind of philosophy that they have underwritten all the years. And they say IA has about the best public schools in the nation! Undoubtedly IA schools have not taught much history in recent years, or the children haven't learned their lessons at any rate. Just looking at the sanctimonious Harkin in the trial of AR Bill made me want to throw up!

The campaign manager resigned because someone under him, namely the 21 year old girl who also resigned, instructed this 51 year old supporter to tape the Ganske speech and report back.
By the way PPT- you need to do your job a bit better. Sheesh! :-)
To: tomball
Harkin said no crime was committed. He acknowledged, however, that the taping was done at the request of one of his staff members, Rafael Ruthchild, 21. Harkin said no one else on his staff knew about the request. Excuse me Mr.Democrat, but remember what YOUR party did to Linda Tripp?
To: tomball
Sen. Tom Harkin, Iowa Democrat and one of the 100 Senate "jurors" in the trial, denounced the "reckless" and "partisan" impeachment action by the House, calling the case "a pile of dung." Now caught fastening his trousers over his own pile of dung, Harkin blamed a lack of supervision.
Where does the dung buck stop, Senator? Tell us when you're finished covering Uranus.
To: tomball
Things look bad, but Zogby will come to the rescue and announce Harkin is up by fifteen in his latest poll.

I'm trying to figure out how you guys know that Raphael Ruthchild is a woman. Last I heard, Raphael is a man's name. Not that that means anything these days.
