Daschle's Bad Hair Day By Ted Lang© 2002 Published 09. 26. 02 at 21:14 Sierra Time xx Wasn’t it great to see Mr. Smoothie become totally unglued? Wasn’t it great to see Mr. Collected, or is it Mr. Collectivist, so totally lose it? For me, it was a high point in American politics. Talk about shaking and quaking, did you get to see the clip of the Senate’s leading old pork glutton and Dirty Byrd assailing the upper atmosphere with his bent and crooked finger shouting "…wrong, WRONG!?" I really think those two leading members of the Demagogic Party were honestly angry! As far as I’m concerned, this is the Bush Administration’s finest hour! And talk about poetic justice! The reason for this jackassinine outburst from these two socialists is attributable to the mistake of one of their party’s chief propaganda factories: The Washington Post.

Daschle’s deceptive air of political professionalism continuously reminds me of his involvement in altering a Federal Aviation Administration grounding order for a friend’s aircraft. It will be recalled that Linda Daschle, once a top FAA official and now-lobbyist, used her influence to re-certify an aircraft that had been FAA-grounded. The Daschles reversed that lifesaving order as a political favor, and three physicians who used the plane died when it crashed. The records of this malfeasance curiously disappeared, just like Clinton and Gore’s emails.

Later in 1998, Senator Tom Daschle - now the Senate Majority Leader -- lobbied for a Congressional resolution to take "all necessary measures" to respond to the Iraqi threat. At the time, a large number of U.S. allies opposed any U.S. military action. Daschle responded to questions about the need for action this way: "Look, we have exhausted, virtually, our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so?"

Right. If the topic wasn't so serious, your correction to my understatement would be humorous.

Never forget, his staff called the press to let them know the time and place of the tantrum. That makes me wonder even more about the man.
