Thune Now Ahead of Johnson (Rush Reports)
Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 9/26/2002 | LS

Posted on 09/26/2002 11:05:01 AM PDT by LS

Rush just reported the results of a new poll--did not give details of the source of the poll---that Thune has now pulled out to a 5-point lead over Tim Johnson in SD. Did Daschle know this before 9/25? What did he know, and when did he know it?

Anyone have details? This is a killer for the Dems. If true, it means that only Hutchinson/Pryor is breaking against us, while Talent/Carnahan, and Wellstone/Coleman are both apparently up in the air.

I repeat what I have said before: WE NEED A NET OF THREE to keep Chaffee and McCain in line, but that a gain of 3-4 may be sufficient reason for Zell to jump our direction.

I've been optimistic, but now I firmly expect Hutchinson to narrowly lose his race.

Coleman 47%, Wellstone 41% with Margin of Error 4.5% (Zogby Poll conducted 9/18-19)

This poll takes this race out of the "up in the air" status

The Talent/Carnahan race doesn't look as good. We've GOT tO win this one and take over the Senate ASAP! Talent should be running away with this one..What are the people of Missouri thinking??

Thanks for this great SD poll update. I'm from Sioux Falls and Huron and since I moved years ago, I think about SD as much as I think about Fla. Tom Daschle is a NATIONAL PROBLEM. He must be relieved of his post as majority leader of the senate because he has abused that power. The job has always been too big for him to handle.

He is more suited for a job that involves groveling. He proved yesterday that once he made an absolute mess of everything, HE COULDN'T HANDLE THE PRESSURE!

Yes, Joe, I like to see that John Thune has pulled ahead of "the mumbler". I watched their debate and Tim Johnson is out there in the ozone layer. How'd he ever get elected in the first place?

I don't know what the people in Missouri are thinking. Wasn't there a scandal there on Florida's favorite election day? Maybe the Missouri dems are already fudging polls to pull off the massive cheating that the Judges have planned for election night?

I thought the dem Judges bought time for Carnahan to get extra votes vs. Ashcroft. (was there any other cheating in Missouri that year?)

I wondered if the Dims had some bad internal polls because Lil' Tommy's snit fit has a desperate tone to it.

I got this poll result yesterday and had planned on posting it tonight, but I guess I don't have to now.

Daschle and his cronies are now telling Powell they should have two resolutions. One to enforce U.N. resolutions. If that doesn't work, then they will do another to use force. The RAT game has been shown now. In this way, the RATS do not have to give the President the ability to use force until AFTER the elections. Now we know what the plan is.

On top of that, Putin wants NO new resolution in the U.N. - which means that Saddam would still be able to keep inspectors OUT of presidential palaces and other places they don't want them. Things do not look good at the moment. Everybody's playing games while our lives are in danger. I am just sick. And very, very angry. I spent 16 hours on FR yesterday doing emails, phone calls, faxes, etc. Every single freeper should be doing the same thing. We must fight back on this issue and on Homeland Security. Daschle doesn't want to pass either one before they go home to campaign. Daschle stated this this morning.

How's everything at the Thune campaign? Were you able to contact them about their poor photography, etc? That's my only problem with Thune's web site. His pictures are all from a mile away. Not any closeups so you can't even tell what the pictures are about or who's in them. Maybe the photographer thinks Thune will bite 'em. LOL

I can see where this is going. After the weekend and hemming and hawing, they'll want to have three resolutions. They are stalling but in any event, they are losing no matter what they try to do.

I just don't want the American people to pay the price from their misdeeds.

If we had another attack, the RATS would just say Bush was doing too much fundraising and wasn't protecting the country. They are soooooo easy to read. I have never wanted to vote straight Republican more in my entire life.

Johnson supports president on Iraq

Daschle: United States must proceed cautiously

By Scott Waltman American News Writer

While Tom Daschle accused President Bush of politicizing a possible war with Iraq, fellow Democrat Sen. Tim Johnson said he'd almost certainly vote in favor of military action against Saddam Hussein.

Johnson said a compelling case has been made that Iraq is a serious threat and is, at the very least, trying to acquire material to make nuclear weapons. Iraq is already capable of launching "dirty" or biological bombs and missiles that could probably reach as far away as Greece, he said.

The president won't have to wait for approval from the United Nations before he acts against Iraq, Johnson said. Still, however, it's unclear whether he'll get the go-ahead from Congress to march troops into Baghdad. That language has yet to be determined. But, Johnson said, "I anticipate voting in favor of authorizing military force in Iraq."

Couldn't agree more. We had a bit of a preview yesterday as they complained that Dubya is spending part of the week concentrating on terrorism and the remainder on fundraising BUT NOT ENOUGH TIME ON DOMESTIC ISSUES, such as S/S, healthcare, the economy, blah blah blah. They are so transparent it's sickening.
