With all due respect to Mrs. Bush, I wish she'd show a little more concern for the US Citizens who are directly affected by the invasion from the south. In certain places along the border, people are basicly prisoners within their own homes at night. Why don't the President or Laura realize some of the negative aspects of illegal immigration? Why don't they ask the Mexican government to stop it? Why do we not stop it?

I have not seen this President or any other even acknowledge the negative impacts illegal alliens make on this nation.

I'd like everyone to remember that Vicente Fox delivered an ultimatum on Sept. 8th at Pres. Bush's first State Dinner, that he wanted an immigration plan by the end of the year.

Then, 9/11 happened, and Bush realized that he couldn't push for the open borders that Fox wanted.

When will everyone realize that the problem with our Southern border is the incredible number of illegals - how they swarm over the border every night. I happen to think that Bush hasn't addressed the problem yet, and I continue to fear that some terrorist will come across the border, whether it is the Mexican or Canadian.

I wish that Laura and Pres. Bush realized that we don't want more illegals and that we want all those we are already here sent home. I'd like it if all immigration - legal and illegal were stopped for a year, so that the INS can catch up with who is here, and who has overstayed, and send the latter home.

As someone who sees their area being overtaken by recent arrivals from Mexico, I'm tired of having to speak Spanish just to get a stinking burger in McD's. And I live in No. VA. It's insane. We have to close our borders. NOW!

Laura Bush needs to come up with a plan then on how and who is going to pay for massive third world immigration. Why does Bush call himself an "education president" and insist that taxpayers should cough up billions more for education because it's so important and then turns around and imports tens of millions of people from Mexico and Guatemala with at best a 3rd grade foreign education, no reading skills, no language skills.

In statements to the Mexican press made in Washington and published Wednesday in Reforma daily, Laura Bush explained she and her husband had lived in Texas for many years and have a special sensitivity for the problems of the U.S. Hispanic community.

How sly. Remember soon after the election, when Laura Bush went on TV and said she supported Roe vs Wade? Now she goes to Mexico City and talks about the special sensitivity she and her husband feel for the US Hispanic community.

I guess those of us who believe it's only immigration if it's legal must be having an impact...GWB has to try to appease his Mexican buddies with soothing words from his wife.

Until Americans stop hiring the illegals and using them in their sweat shops and fields, we will continually have this problem.

Americans are as much a part of the problem, perhaps more so because we are so very hypocritical about it. On the one hand we want cheap labor and no responsibility to the labor force and on the other we don't want the very people who give us the cheap labor. If Americans were willing to work for less than minimum wage and follow the crops or work in the sweat shops for less than minimum wages, we might see a change. Though I doubt it.

Others see America as the land of opportunity with streets of gold - the media and the entertainment industry have done a good job of promoting it. So of course you are going to have people coming into the States in anyway that they can to snatch a part of that dream - legally or illegally.
