A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 9/25/02

President Bush met with President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia today, and discussed the war on terrorism, as well as Columbia's continued efforts in fighting the illegal drug trade. Bush also met with the Boys and Girls Clubs National Youth of the Year finalists in the White House. This evening, the President attended the National Republican Senatorial Committee dinner at the National Building Museum. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Mexico City attending the 11th Conference of Spouses of Heads of State and Government. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

YOu know that the bible says that when two or more people are gathered praying, God is in their midst. Would it not be a good idea that we pick a time for all of us to read this post and take one minute together praying for the president and praying for the success of the elections to bring about a republican house and senate?

Ollie, I'm thankful I remembered your posting this, because FWI has a wonderful thread up and running, and your idea of praying together would fit in so beautifully here. Please check this out and let me know what you think. Thanks for the great idea!

Hello, all. Thank you, marylina for bringing the note about the Prayer and Fasting "effort" to the Dose. Thank you, Olliemb for your idea about all praying at the same time each day for the President and the upcoming elections. I had not read that suggestion - but God is leading many (including you and me) to pray for the elections! And I was led to suggest prayer and fasting for any who want to try that adventure. Please see Marylina's link in the post above to that thread and please read all the intro information.

For now - enough to say - some are comitting to fast one meal a day from now through the elections. Others are choosing to fast one day a week from now through the elections. Others are going to fast one meal on certain days from now through the elections - with prayer - all of these times.

And Marylina thought about another suggestion which she and I are doing. Others may want to do that too. (send her or me Freepmail) to find out about it. It goes right with olliemb's suggestion!!!! (God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform!)

If you are interested in the prayer and fasting adventure - please go over to The prayer and fasting thread and read ALL of it if you can - explanation and scriptures are there - plus Bill Bright's 7 Steps to Effective Prayer and Fasting info.

And understand that not all can do the fasting and prayer thing.

If not - prayer together will be good and an adventure in itself!

If you want to try the fasting - read those 7 steps and the strong suggestion that you might want to get a doctor's ok on doing the fasting and some might even need a doctor's supervision.

And PLEASE PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO ANYBODY YOU THINK MIGHT WANT TO PARTICIPATE.

The enemies of this country and of our loved ones and of our President are strong and determined. (both the natural enemies and those in the spiritual realms).

But GOD is stronger than those enemies, and He WILL ACT with all His almighty power in response to His people humbling themselves before Him in repentance and prayer, with Thanksgiving (which is part of the secret - walking in faith - believing He is sending the Deliverance for which we pray as He has promised to do!)

Anyway - sorry to go on so long. This is where I am. Hope some more will join - but if not - God bless each of you in all things no matter what you are doing.

I hope that we can all pray and fast. I have been fasting (eating one meal a day) now for a week and I go to mass daily. However, I firmly believe that it is much better if we all together can pray for the same thing such as a republican house and senate.

Thanks for the links re: fasting. Tho I believe that fasting is important ( I even just bought a book re: fasting from a religious store) I have never quite been able to justify/understand why it is important. I just know it is. Thanks again and it is so nice working with you. I am just listening to a report that unborn children, fetuses, embryos are now covered for medical care. I so much believe that God is allowing the good to overcome all the evil that has developed and now is the time for all this to happen.

I don't know why fasting is so important either - unless it is part of God's call for us to "deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus".

Evidently, Jesus EXPECTED people to fast - not saying "if you fast" but "when you fast". (the rest of that is that when we fast we are not to go about mourning but with joy because our heavenly Father knows our hearts and that we are fasting).

I only know that when praying about the election time and the forces at work in this country against God's best for our nation and its people - it just came to me that there are many strongholds which "the enemy" (meaning, not other people but THE enemy of our souls - Satan - who seeks who he may devour at every opportunity) has set up in this country which cannot be brought down by any human being - but that GOD is almighty and HE can and will bring down these strongholds as we unite in prayer (as you said). Also, when Jesus' disciples were unable to heal some people - Jesus told them "this comes not out but by prayer and fasting."

In other words, some of the problems in people and in our nation are so deeply entrenched - that it takes the special "weapon" of fasting - with prayer - to get these forces of darkness OUT and God's Spirit and will IN to a situation.

So, the only thing I know to do is to obey that command.

There are many who are very experienced with the fasting part of prayer - I am not. So it is a learning experience and an adventure.

There are now 39 days to the election date.

I am fasting (one meal a day) and praying (at ever opportunity - in repentance, also in forgiveness of others, and in intercession for my loved ones, and our nation, and other "pray-ers" and those who are working to bring God's righteousness and God's justice and God's truth into this world. I am also praying that WHAT JESUS CAME TO DO - SET CAPTIVES FREE AND BRING SIGHT TO THE BLIND AND TO RECLAIM THOSE WHO ARE LOST - WILL BE DONE! in our nation! And in the world!

Another effective thing to do is to pray the scriptures - making them "personal" for you since they are God's WORD to you. Standing on them - and putting on all the armor of God (Ephesians 6) is also very very vital.

Well enough of all this. You are a leader in this prayer effort - so thank you for those inspired thoughts and desires.

Let's roll!

ollie - yes we must pray for our enemies. That is the toughest thing. But, we are commanded to do so! Jesus did so - from the cross- praying for forgivenesss of those crucifying Him! This is probably the most difficult part - but it is an incredible way to experience God's presence and power. Yes, that means, even pray for Hillary Clinton!!! and Ted Kennedy! And Tom Daschle !!! and John Edwards!!!! and all the news media enemies.

I am going to find out how to pray for them! David prayed for his enemies to be basically brought low. Paul shook the dust off his feet when the Gospel continued to be rejected by those to whom He came to bring it. He basically said - move on. But we are to pray for those who persecute us and to those who would spitefully use us. And we are all being used and abused by these power mad abusers. But, again, our part is to pray - not to "feel" any kind of good emotions. (though we are even commanded to LOVE our enemies.....but that is only with God's Agape love is that even possible.) In fact, this whole topic is NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT GOD'S HELP - perhaps that is why we CAN DO IT and must do it - it brings us to the end of ourselves.
