Showed up in an SUV in Indiana.
If I had been walking by, I might have seen better and heard better what happened. That means I might have known something and been making a decision whether to intervene with reason. We have none of that, just a poor quality video seen long after the fact.
It is not just a saying but a deeply important principle that one is innocent until proven guilty.
If that kid has no serious injuries, they will have a hard time proving their case and it would be terrible if the kid was traumitized in the meantime by foster care.
This decision is always tough but I must give the benefit of the doubt to keeping a family together.
Now, let us assume another set of facts. What if a medical exam shows serious and continuing physical abuse by someone. Then it is appropriate to hold a court hearing on an expedited basis to review that evidence (with parents notified to be present)and let a judge decide if there are exigent circumstances. Another relative should be the favored temporary custodian if that is the case. But that depends on a lot of facts that don't exist or are unknown to us in this case.
You're talking apples and oranges here, and you full well know it.
This all has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the out-of-control CPS structure in this country (and it IS out of control). It has EVERYTHING to do with a "mother" beating the living s**t out of a toddler in the parking lot of a department store.
The bitch deserves to lose her kids AND her freedom.
Mike, you have very valid points, and there is no doubt there is a LOT of truth in them. None the less, sometimes children ARE being criminally abused. Let's even go ahead and make the wild assumption (obviously wrong) that CRS is wrong in 99 out of 100 cases. This does nothing to alter the fact that they are right in that one case.
Nope,ya gotta seperate the wheat from the chaf. Dump all over them for the wrong they do,and insist they do right.
Do not let the details of a single case warp your standards of right and wrong.
This seems to be what you are doing.
Since you're not new here, I can only conclude you have a very bad memory.
BTW, you've showed pretty poor judgement in your sounding off. Flagging the Admin Moderator because someone said something you didn't like, and pinged someone?
If they boot off everyone who displayed that tendency, there'd be three people left on FR.
Someone forgot to ping you to his whine, Kevin.
The kid will be in an environment, for a while, where there is no thievery, no scams, no bilking the elderly, no beatings for not "going along with the deal."
Madalyn gave a news conference a couple of minutes ago. Her blonde hair had magically turned brunette, and, in her second grade world, "I didn't do nothin' wrong, and my daughter shouldn't be sufferin' for somethin' I did."
God bless that child. Whatever she experiences in foster care, it will be a thousand times better than what she sees in the Gypsy lifestyle.
Pretty lame dodge.
EggsAckley.
In other words, you're going to waffle on an answer. Good answer from a politician.
So, tell me - what could the little girl have done to deserve such treatment?
I can't even think of three...
I guess this means you have chosen to not believe your own lying eyes?
The people who yammer on with the "CPS-out-of-control/jack-booted-thug/better-hope-you-never-have-it-happen-to-you/foster-care-will-kill-this-child" clap-trap never seem to address the immediate question: What shall we do when a parent poses an immediate threat to a child?
They never address the fact that when a child is killed--not just injured, but KILLED--49% of the time it is the mother who perpetrates it; 30% of the time it is a male the mother has living with them; and 13% of the time it is the father. It isn't the foster-care provider, and it isn't CPS. It is the PARENTS, directly or indirectly.
Add to that the fact that the family has been all but destroyed in many segments of the population as a whole--particularly lower income, black or rural southern--and you have the recipe for the disaster we see played out day after day after day.
So for these people to come in like the micro-brained idiots that they are, yelling and screaming about how it is the fault of CPS or of the foster-care system, is just about the height of evil. Not just ignorance, but WICKEDNESS. Because THEY are willing to sacrifice these children on the altar of their own political agenda, just as surely as they claim the Leftists are doing. It just stinks, and I'm ashamed they show up here on FR pretending to be "conservatives."
"Ban the ping! We demand an immediate end to mass flagellation! Semi-colons are not fair!"
And when your last request is not granted, then we'll never hear about this last request of yours again.
Hot flashes, or something.
YIKES! You actually posted something rational! Are you a quart low,or did somebody kidnap you and is using your FR account?
``She's safe. We just have to, at this point, make sure there are not any deeper physical injuries,'' Toth said. ``She's a sweet, wonderful girl. Physically she looks fine.''
Here is the real story, and below are the quotes from well-informed [snicker]and objective [LOL!] FReepers who knew the truth before all the rest of us did. Not!
"...punched repeatedly in the face..." by riley1992
"...PUNCH A FOUR-YEAR-OLD CHILD IN THE HEAD..." by alnick
"One dozen closed-fist punches to the head in total while the four year old was stuck in a carseat." by KingKongCobra
"She will be scarred forever by this and, of course, repeat this treatment with her own children because she'll believe it's normal to show your children how much you "love" them by acting this way. Physical, mental, and emotional abuse is extremely unhealthy and psychologically and physically damaging." by nicmarlo
"...the closed fist punches at the end." by agrace
"The perp is obviously beating the hell out of a four year old child." by primeval patriot
"She was in an out-of-control rage and was beating a defenseless child. Although I agree that the state interferes too much on occasion, interfering here would NOT be too much. It just might save that girl's life." by proud American in Canada
"I saw a closed fist used for the second round of blows. Also, way too many blows delivered..." by Irene Adler
"...it's okey dokey to beat, choke, strangle, maim, starve, whip, burn, bind, punch, slap, drown, break, blind and deafen children..." by Catspaw
"...beats her own child brainless and senseless..." by Kevin Curry
"...a Mom beat the snot out of the kid..." by Trident/Delta
"I'm expecting the child to be in hiding with relatives." by gcruse
"Let's hope they keep this woman locked up, if she makes bail, hopefully they will investigate the trail of the funds used to bail this worthless piece of trash." by fabriclady
"...those of us who know how children are used as punching bags should organize a vigilante group to teach those parents some boundries....BTW the child is with Dad not the CPS...felony child abuse with eyewitnesses...She needs to be dealt with severely...." by RGSpincich
"Everyone in the country has seen that horrendous beating and everyone (with the exception of you) thinks that the child is in serious danger." by afraidfortherepublic
"...THAT MOM NEEDS TO BE EXTERMINATED." by shotspider
"The B* threw a tantrum, and we're all hoping that some little girl has not paid the ultimate price for her mother's sins." by Blazing Arizona
"...beating her sensless..." by BlessingInDisguise
"This woman is a monster. She needs to be stoned by a classroom of second graders." by Glenn
"...the white trash whore glances right, then left, before giving her baby the Muhammad Ali treatment..." by AmericanInTokyo
"...she appears to let the girl have it with her fits to the head. If the girl shows up with no burises the family might well have swtiched children." by Dante3
"The woman pummelled, slapped and violently shook her child. No bruises perhaps, but maybe a few head, neck and brain injuries." by catonsville
"...the mother was indeed striking the child with a closed fist." by mewzilla
My personal favorite:
"Remember, words mean something, and once they've been said, it's impossible to get them back." by EggsAckley (in response to a FReeper who cautioned waiting on a verdict until all the evidence was in.)
There were more, but I got really tired of the repetition.
Guess who were the true FReepers on this one:
A Vast RightWing Conspirator: "You wanna bet the girl has no cuts or bruises? I love it when millions of people with nothing more significant in their own lives make correcting other people's lives their #1 business. Yet another sign of a sick society getting sicker. Of course, the worst possible thing you can do to that little girl is to use the gov't brute force and separate her from her natural mother who. I bet, she cares a lot more about her daughter than a million of empty-headed bleeding-heart stupids out there. "
Mike4Freedom: "I will just say that I hope that lawyer gave some good advise and the family has already gotten the kid to a private doctor for examination. That evidence needs to be nailed down before the CPS gestapo gets their hands on the kid. They have a history of exaggerating the most minor injuries and taking the kid. This removes the possibility of getting another doctor to see the kid. Once they get a kid, their goal is to take her, no matter what happened. Due process be damned."
TigersEye: "There's a story here alright. Not about what this woman did or didn't do. There's a political story about what the government and the media can and will do to a person if given half a chance. It raises some interesting questions like why, how far can they go and who's next? And for what? But it's a whole lot easier to forget all that and let the media and the government dance you around like puppets. It's always fun to be part of something."
What version of the english language was that woman speaking??? Boy, she didn't come across as being too swift--especially when she shrieked
"I've been a mother since I was 19".
Don't think that helped her case...and her case is a sorry one.
