but the country has yet to ''get down into the weeds'' of figuring out how to fight a long-term war while balancing its budget and its civil-rights guarantees.

We sure do know how to fight the terrorism war: Close the borders, deport ALL illegal aliens and even US citizens who are known sympathizers. Our "civil-rights" won't mean a D*MN if we're nuked.

You are not the first Saddam supporter on FR to advocate that this despot be covered by the U.S. Constitution.Of course,he shouldn't be,nor should we allow the issue to be fogged up in this manner. He is history, get used to it.

It is abundantly clear to Thompson that Iraq has long posed a serious threat to the United States. ''I think the facts and the arguments have been pretty well laid out.''

Does Saddam send thousands of his people into the USA on a daily basis to rob, steal, kill, threaten the sovereignty of the U.S. and milk the socialistic systems to death? Presidente Fox does.

If Saddam poses a threat with nuclear weapons, why haven't the Israelis bombed the nuclear facilities, like they did in the '80's? If Saddam was that much of a threat, the Isaelis would eliminate it without asking for anyones permission.

If this administration, Bush, Thompson, et al, were really sincere about eliminating terrorism, Arafat would have ceased to breathe a long time ago.

The greatest threat this nation faces now is from a weak president and weaker congressmen who refuse to do their Constitutional duty and protect and defend our physical borders.

(Can you imagine if a gang of neo-nazis had beaten those two FBI agents into a coma, what would have happened? There would have been National Guard sent in and anti-personnel vehicles.)

I am appalled at the weak response (actually, no response) of this administration to this outrageous violation of the sovereignty of the USA. We should have invades northern Mexico and cleaned out the thieves.

."Are you going to take MY gun away because you're scared of it?"

Guess what--we can already--if you are adjudged sufficiently mentally incompentent so as to pose an active threat to your neighbors. Saddam Hussein has so proven and been so adjudged by a jury of his peers (i.e. the United Nations).

The REAL, ACCURATE comparison would be that you have already been judged mentally incompetent, had your house searched and many weapons removed, but you refuse to permit further weapons searches ON YOUR OWN AUTHORITY and refuse to let the searchers do their jobs. In the real world, a SWAT team would be on your doorstep with a battering ram the next day.

Are you going to take MY gun away because you're scared of it?

As soon as you lob missiles on your neighbors, and admit you are brewing a huge batch of smallpox in your basement, yes, we'll be by for your gun...and you too.

You got it backwards...US is handling Iraq and ISrael is taking care of Arafat.

Keep in mind, Sept 11 happened without a single weapon of mass destruction.

True enough.

I think I misunderstood you, I'm a staunch 2A supporeter. I thought you were arguing we shouldn't go take Saddam's guns because we are scared of them.

In the War on Terror, Iraq is only a battle field.

Were we an aggressor nation when the US Navy and Army Air Corps attacked Japanese ships as they sailed east, in the general direction of Midway Island?

We are waging a war of attrition after numerous mass murders overseas and on our mainland in '93 and '01. How soon our "allies" want to forget.

The French will be bed wetting over their domestic exposure from their muslims. At least the disarmed Brits are waking up to what is in for them. Mein Koran should be a warning to the Germans.

The unLeague of Nations headquarters should relocate to the Galapagos Islands as the rest of civilization is evolving without them.

Okay he has weapons. But so do I.

Are you going to take MY gun away because you're scared of it?

You start shooting people in your own home, agree in a contract (treaty) that I can park in your driveway, but you shoot at me when I do (no flight zone)and I find out you are looking to buy a flamethrower then YES I will take your gun away, and kick your rear while I'm at it.

Sorry you willfully ignore the point of my comments. This administration has it backwards.
In what little weapons traning I've had, I was taught to place two shots, center-of-mass on the closest threat, then one or two shots on the more distant threats, coming back to the initial threat to make sure the threat had been eliminated. Illegal aliens pose a much greater, immediate threat to the USA than Saddam. Yet you and the bush-bots in la-la land, choose to ignore this fact. Why is that?

I been holding my breath waiting for Sen Thompson to confirm this threat.

Now I can relax.

I wonder if he just wanted to be sure, so he waited until hes ready to bail before speaking up.

Our government is run the the biggest load of cowardly, self serving liars on the planet.
