Probably the onboard Quasar System... but that's top secret hush-hush... so don't tell anyone...

Not only that, but I took this photo from Burbank. My roommate called me from 40 miles away and said he was right under it when it happened, and he was scared sh--less. He said it looked like a slow moving firework that even exploded slowly, spreading this odd light everywhere. I watched, and it just hung there for a good long while.

Odd.

Seems common enough. Firings from facilities in and around Lompoc around sunset look like that. Nothing unusual, in other words.

Its a solid fueled rocket launched from Vandenberg just like they have been doing for 25 years. I hope its a spy camera that can see Sadam sneaking those missles around at night.
To: Demosthenes
Incoming or outgoing missle?

I saw that missile from Yuba City which is about 40 miles north of Sacramento. No doubt it was fired from Vandenburg AFB.
Pretty cool.

If he was scared sh--less, then he should call the US military and tell them they have in winner in whatever they launched. Surely it will put the fear of ___ (fill in your preferred power) into enemies of the United States.

I knew it was high up there....I could see jetliner traffic flying under it....

A friend called me in Central California, she saw it too. By the time I got the call, it was gone. I have seen missiles from Vandenburg several times, it does last a good long time.

Call Art Bell, buddy - use the wildcard line.

Why did it not dissipate for ten minutes?
Low wind speed at altitude?
