PRESS RELEASE
Homestead Land and Water Alliance will be hosting the kick-off rally for the Sawgrass Rebellion in Tracy on September 29, 2002 in the Commuter Parking Lot between I-205 and the West Valley Mall between 3 and 5 PM.
The Sawgrass Rebellion is a convoy crossing 23 states, raising funds to help people in Florida and the Klamath Basin. Both areas have been devastated. The Klamath area had water withheld from farmers in the name of saving a fish--the National Academy of Science said the action was unnecessary. The Florida area has been flooded repeatedly since the Army Corps of Engineers was told by Congress in 1987 to construct canals and levees to protect the 25,000 people living in the area known as the 8.5 Square Mile Area. The Army Corps of Engineers received funding at the same time.
Several guest speakers will be on hand; Congressman Pombo, Leo Bergeron of the CA Grange, Joanne Shaw of Freedom 21, Irene Sundberg and several others. The Tracy Community Band will play for us. It will be a fun and informative meeting. There will be an auction/fundraiser of symbolic shovels, buckets and any antiques we may have acquired.
Local people may get involved by donating items suitable for sale for the fund raiser. We will be sending symbolic ziploc bags of dirt back to Florida with the convoy. The people in Florida can build a levee with dirt from all over the United States. Your name and city should be printed on the ziploc. Bring your ziploc to the rally.
Contact Homestead Land and Water Alliance at (209) 836-4046 (Betty), (209) 835-7974 (Sharon) or e-mail thru our website at homesteadlwa.com for more details.
We will be joined by people from the press, including The Tracy Press, TriValley Herald, The Record, KSFO, and Kat Country will try to be there.
A PRESS TABLE located near the entrance will issue you a press badge when you check in near the gate.

Private land owners are being forced off their land by a variety of coercive land-use policies, being imposed under the banner of "Everglades Restoration," endangered species protection, open space, Heritage areas, and a host of other programs, all designed to displace people, or severely restrict the use of private property.

Isn't it the most wonderful thing to see people from all over the country getting involved to help their neighbors? We sure need the help down here in S. Florida, and we couldn't be more thankful to all these fine folks.

Joe, I just added a link to this story to my next mass email... due to that !#$! system crash last week, I had to reconstruct my files, which wasn't all bad. I have about 50 different recipients now, which is more than I formerly had. It will be seen by a wider variety of letters to editors and opinionators.

Talked to Bill Ransom today and this convoy is starting to look better all the time. In taking back America for Americans - the future is looking bright!!! All things are shaping up according to plan, a few details to pound out and we are off! I will be traveling IN the convoy and will be posting as often as possible to what is happening! As things are forming, will only deliver what has been pounded out and wrote in stone....So stay tuned to an FR point close to you.

Bill R., a logger by trade, expressed interest in meeting the author of "Natural Process" at the Tracy stop which will be close to Santa Cruz.
To: nunya bidness
That might be doable, although a public meeting might not be in either of our interests. What does he want?
To: Carry_Okie
Just to hear your ideas. I mentioned the book and he was interested in the concept.
As you know after the fires there wasn't much to harvest. Hence his experience and data might be of interest what with the current ESA standing on the Klamath Basin.
To: farmfriend
Thank You for doing your part, if we can all pull together this should be a huge success.

I can't thank you guys enough. Y'all are helping
real people in my area and elsewhere.
Nunya, are you going to be in the area anytime soon or are you just coming for the event? If the former I may have something you can sink your teeth into. You still have my contact info?
