Clinton had a full term to bring Reeve to his feet

He was the star attraction at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, remember?

"...I gotta agree with Reeve, medical progess should not be interfered with by religious agendas using state power....."

I know you meant to say - "Religious agendas should not be interferred with using state powers---" Didn't you?

Or maybe "Murder should not be condoned for medical progress by using state power." OK, that's the one.

Wah! I still can't walk because George Bush won't kill me some babies. I must feast on the flesh of babies to regain my power of ambulation! Bring me the flesh of ....

This person is way off base. While I feel sad for Christopher Reeves and his condition It is NOT in any way, shape or form Bush's fault. What a ridiculous thing to say. Which by the way, didn't I just read something about Christopher Reeve being able to have some feeling or feeling the pricks of a pin just the other day? Did anyone else see or read this? In fact, my husband and I were very happy for Reeve. WE hope and pray this is true and that the feeling is returning. But to blame President Bush? Please.

Now, though, it is sharply focused on America's politicians and religious leaders, and the way they have, in his view, impeded research in therapeutic cloning and stem cells -

Gad. What a POS Chris Reeve is. America's politicians and religious leaders are in fact doing America's bidding. The majority of Americans are against stem cell research. They have told their leaders so and they have responded. That's the way the system works.

If he wants a more accessible target to vent his rage at...I'll stand up.

I voted for GWB so I must also share the blame for this piece of krill not being able to walk on his 50th birthday.

Why isn't it ever a case of poor horsemanship that confines him to a wheelchair? It's always someone else's fault.

Let's set technology free to cure disease and extend our lifespans. Who knows - one day there might even be jobs again.

Hey Blaze, science just discovered that YOUR brain cells can get Chris up and around again.

Lean your head forward, this won't hurt too much...

Absolutely, think of all the successful people with happy worthwhile lives who die because they don't get a heart, lung or kidney transplant. Think of all the pathetic, worthless retards and homeless with perfectly functioning organs which we could harvest. In fact, if we don't hustle, China will take the lead and America will miss out on the Nobel Prizes sure to be issued. Its just that outdated Judeo-Christian morality standing in the way of progress again. <>

"Hooooray! Someone had the guts to say that!"

Yeah, and I'll bet you think Dr. Mengele was a boon to humanity, too.

"...medical progess should not be interfered with by religious agendas using state power."

Why do you call it a "religious agenda"?

A concern for human life is a universal moral issue, quite aside from a religious issue.

If you don't believe me, ask Nat Hentoff. He's an atheist.

Just Bush? Heck, let's blame Bush, Cheney, and mean ol' Don Rumsfeld too! But not Colin Powell. He's the good one. Aww, such a nice man! Now what were we talking about?

"Some religious and social conservatives say that that egg, by itself, is an individual. I find it hard to understand. If that egg is an individual, it means it has the same status as a living human being. When human beings die, the next of kin ordinarily have a funeral. So if you follow their logic, women should be having funerals for these so-called individuals that they lose every 30 days. I know it's a rather cynical way to look at it, however, it's very important to look logically at the problem, rather than emotionally."

Although I doubt it's necessary here, allow me to state the obvious.

FERTILIZED EGG, Mr Reeve.

A WOMAN DISPELS AN EGG THAT HAS YET TO BE FERTILIZED.

It's called EMBRYONIC stem cell research for a reason.

Surely he knows this; therefore, he must think most of us are stupid.

I'm sure we can thank th Nazis for that excellent research they did on live subjects with respect to hypothermia. Imagine they hadn't done that, sheesh, it would be just one more other thing we could blame them for.

Should read " The Man of Squeal ". I feel sorry for him but everytime someone wheels him out on the stage he just comes across as so self centered. Is it just me or does anybody else pick up on that vibe ?

No room for the 'barf alert' in the title.

Wow. I couldn't even make it thru a single paragraph.

Reeves et al condone slaughtering innocent lives to aid them - what if it were their child that was slaughtered sacrificed? It's not a religious issue - it's a moral issue. We're to belive that Reeve's life is more important than ours, or that of our children, and that we must sacrifice for him.

That's enough to gag a maggot.

This is an article from a British newspaper.
Did anyone ask what the Brits are doing about Stem Cell research? How is it only one country's fault if research isn't being done? Heck, for that matter, why is always America's fault that the blind can't see, the cripple's can't walk and the deaf can't hear?

How sad that instead of being grateful totally for the return of some sensation of feeling, he choses instead to bash Bush and Catholics for his misfortune. I have seen the President blamed for many things lately, but this is truly despicable on his Christopher Reeves part.

"Not letting negativity get the upper hand is really, really critical."

But hey, criticizing republicans, blaming Bush isn't negative.

I have been told that Reeve is a distant cousin of mine.

I'm sympathetic to his plight.

It is a true tragedy.

But he needs to learn that he's not the only invalid in the world.
