Last time I broached the subject that I thought Flight 93 was shot down I was attacked viciously. The fact that it was shot down does not take anything away from the courage of the passengers who took a stand. If I were President and three hijacked passenger jets had just attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and I knew a fourth hijacked plane was out there, I would order it to be shot down. It would be the only rational thing to do.
The main thing you have to understand about the federal government is that, like all psychotics, it would rather tell a lie than the truth, even when the truth would work better than the lie.

Do you have any idea how impossible it would be to keep what you allege secret?
My gawd, the pilots, the weapons loaders, the crew chiefs, the air traffic controllers, the base commanders (and their staffs), the national command authorties (and their staffs), the investigators. . .literally thousands of people would have had to spontaneously come together immediately after the shot and conspire to keep a secret of this nature. What?! This is nonsense.
BTW: It is not a "well known fact" that fighters were anywhere near the flight. It is a fact they were enroute, flying a front quarter intercept and were in no position, and were not in range of, the aircraft when it went down.
My gawd, the way Washington leaks there is no way we could have kept it quiet if we even had aircraft close to the flight, let alone actually shot it down.

The fact that it was shot down does not take anything away from the courage of the passengers who took a stand. Tell me about it. It takes a brave soul to bring up the fact that there is a high probability that it was shot down - and there was nothing wrong with doing that.

AMEN!! It couldn't be put any better.

The fact that it was shot down... Huh? Perhaps you could explain why the seismologists recorded a single ground impact at 10:06:05 and not multiple impacts over a time interval? Or did all those plane pieces conveniently hit the ground at precisely the same time?

It was shot down. The debris feild is over miles rather than a few hundred yards. It does not deminish the heroics of the passengers the stinger just knocked down the aircraft before the the passengers could take over. That's it. They took the best opprotunity in the sparsley populated area of PA. That is it. Why they covered up is just a matter of War time propaganda. It serves the country more to have the heros take down the plane. The administration will get forgiveness later as ..." we didn't know what we were in so yes we lied.... " People should not be upset that they have. It doesnot change a thing of the bravery of Beamer and the others.

I was just about to ask you and others on this thread why exactly the U.S. Gov't would shoot down a plane and lie about it when, as even you say, it could only benefit them more to tell the truth in such a circumstance.
But now we know for certain. The U.S. Gov't is psychotic; thanks for the update there, that's good information to know as I continue to live my life in this country. Just knowing that the government is a totally evil and corrupt organization (or is it JUST psychoitic?) brings a warm and fuzzy feeling to my heart.
Thanks EPU! You must be a joy at parties too!

I'm normally a debunker of conspiracy theories. But I heard from an extremely reliable source that AF buzz on September 11th was that a 16 had taken the plane down, and on September 12th that buzz had been squelched.
The story that the passengers had stopped the attack is an inspirational one. The story that an Air Force pilot had to do it would be bitter and tragic on a day that had already seen thousands of times too much of that.
I just hope that if it was a pilot, the fact that he did his clear duty no matter how distasteful is in the classified part of his records. In many ways it took just as much courage as a passenger attack did.
