A Lesson in Free Speech.
Today Missouri FReepers learned a lesson in free speech. The vets for peace still insist that if we havent worn the uniform, we have no right to an opinion. The vets among our side have no right to an opinion because they had more vets on their side than we did. One young woman insisted that when the protests are posted on the Internet (yes, they found us after a year) we have no right to change their signs. Parody, effigy, sarcasm and caricatures are tools only the left may use. So, nobody CHANGE THE WORDING on the signs. While we are at it, let us also remember we have no right to make fun of, disagree, opine, or protest what they do! So, NO SNIDE REMARKS should be posted here. Now that the rules of protest etiquette are out of the way, on with notes about this mornings FReep.
We were proud of the number of supporters of America who stood with us this morning. The encouragement of a fine spectator parked by the post office and who enthusiastically raised his hand and yelled Me when the peaceniks asked who all on our side were vets, well, it made our day. A woman who stopped near us asked, How can I be against killing when the kids in my neighborhood were up all night partying and yelling? (She is not a FReeper, so the rules regarding sarcasm dont apply.) And the air horn from a big rig pulling a trailer of horses voicing its support for America was music to our ears! I believe Zip almost jumped out of his shoes when the blast went off!
The high point had to be the peacenik lady who wanted DogRobber to take a picture of her and her sign. He did. She proceeded to yell at him that he was a liar because he hadnt taken the picture. When he replied that he had indeed taken the picture, she still insisted he was a liar. Oh, the tolerance of some academics in ivory towers who are vastly superior in their generosity and enlightenment, never stooping to name calling or knee-jerk reactions!
The lecture from the peaceniks after the FReep in the parking lot was a bit more difficult to stomach. The usual attacks about being unchristian, intolerant and warmongering were a bit much. One can only wonder how we could sentence millions of civilians in the mid-east to living under the insane and dictatorial rule of despots who are not only prepared to kill us infidels, but have killed those among their own people who dont measure up to their twisted world view. Is it the more Christian reaction to ignore their predicament and slink away as we cut our losses and bury our dead? We think not and so we stand for America and Freedom.

So they want us to only say nice things on OUR site about them, huh? I've been to their sites. They have the vilest, profanest, foulmouthed posters you should see! There is no discourse or reasoned logical positions posted. Only the usual "Bush knew" bile vomited up post after post. Any poster who tries to argue otherwise is piled on.

Hi, this is Bret the vet, I enjoyed being out there Saturday at the post office with everyone and am looking forward to future Saturdays. Those peace protesttors seem to have quite a temper, not so peaceful as I would have thought. You all are a great bunch of people!

It was great that you were able to join the Missouri Freepers on Saturday. Hope you will be able to join them and lend your Support for Our Troops many more times.
The war protestors are a bunch of idiots!! They want peace. Right!!! The do not want the USA to respond to any kind of terrororist activity but it does not seem to bother them to show un-peaceful (Is that a word) tendencies against anyone who does not agree with them.

I guarantee you that their vets only had 2 or three years service because I was in 20 years and no one could spend 20 years in the military and think the way they do.

You are so right.
Congratulations, Missouri Freepers! You know you're doing right when the folks like that go on the attack.
