More people just died today in car accidents than have died from West Nile Virus. Many many more people died from the flu than from this thing, this year. It isn't a terribly virulent virus, and most of the people who die are old and/or infirmed. Maybe Senator Pat should launch an investigation into a terroist link to MALARIA in SE Asia..after all, almost a million people still die from that every year...

Bad stuff STILL happens in post 9/11 that has nothing to do with terrorists. Virus' spread, diseases break out all by themselves, without any help by Osama Bin Dyin' and company.

Leahy's office also released excerpts Thursday from previous news and congressional committee reports saying officials had downplayed the fear that the spread of West Nile virus might be the work of bioterrorists.

Yeah, could be bioterrorists or it could be congressional democraps who favor open borders and unleashing a torrent of visas to third world types who bring West Nile Virus and Hepatitis and God knows what else here, all in the name of encouraging “diversity”.

I'm surprised that Leahy didn't urge that before any investigation starts, that we first need the approval of Kofi Annan and the UN.

If Leaky Leahy wants to investigate the West Nile Virus, that should be proof to every conservative that the Islamakazis have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I dunno, I think this is nutball politics myself. This is a virus carried by animals that travel thousands of miles and then further transmitted by mosquitos which are everywhere. To me a disease carried in such a manner is certain to be acrosss the country in only a few short years.

I thought it was odd for a virus like that to show up 'on a sudden' like that without there being a kind of precursor.

Of course, I got laughed at back in 2000 when I voiced that. Some said to me that it's an inefficient way to attack people. That is true, but it's not the point. The point of introducing West Nile would be to spread panic and fear. And it's not all that hard to breed a group of virus carrying mosquitos and bring them into another country.

I think its possilbe that this virus was a gift from Saddam..I would guess, if it was, that he was hoping for more deaths at the get go. If indeed someone could find that link..there would be no more need of trying to sell the UN or the world on the whys of attacking Iraq..it would be a given.
