Florida Republicans, share your election day stories with the army of journalists covering the "plague" of Fla. election problems. Let visiting pundits know what Florida Republicans have to say about this latest attempt to blame Dem. incompetence and fraud on our Governor and Republicans.
They wouldn't knowingly choose to disenfranchise Florida Republicans, thus mischaracterizing last Tuesday's Florida state primary election, would they?

Somewhere, they packed up and abandoned an 80 something year old poll worker with all the stuff. He took the ballots home and I think grocery shopping. At least he had custody of them when the other poll workers booked. Had he left the ballots at the polling place, minions would have possibly confiscated and thrown away those ballots. Rush Limbaugh talked about this on Thursday I think. JANET RENO GOT SQUEEZED OUT IN THE AM AND IN THE PM.
Broward County's SOE needs to be fired. Check out the Broward FR threads. Alcee Hastings actually dares Jeb to fire Ms. Oliphant, the Broward SOE who put together that GOP-smear instruction video and "supervised" last Tuesday's primary. Ms. Oliphant's African American. Rep. Hastings and Ms. Oliphant along with the DNC and their crime arm..the Fla. NAACP believe that they can once again cry "RACISM!" Florida's black Republicans are getting really tired of the lies from our racist Dem. neighbors.
Freeper comments from summer's thread: Urgent letter from Janet Reno Election Day Voting Problems (w/ voter complaint form (^:).
Did none of these people participate in the process of learning how to use the new voting machines? In my Florida county we had publicity about the new voting machines almost a year ago. Then the election officials took them to public places such as libraries, where people could check them out and ask questions. Plus, we had a one issue vote in March on a school levy (which passed unfortunately!), so people had the opportunity to try out the machines in a trial run so to speak.
So what happened? Did other counties not do the publicity and the education? Or were the voters not interested until Election Day?

I am completely on Reno's side . I think there should be numerous court appeals and lawsuits and re-counts and let Broward County and Dade and Palm vote several more times until they can get it right. Janet Reno as AG always ruled this was the American way and it is only fair to give her the same privileges. Neighboring states should also lend Florida buses to haul the illegal Haitians and Jessee Jackson's folks to the numerous precincts without undue waiting to vote at each stop. Only in this way can Janet be rewarded as the minority becomes the majority as she always insisted. It is her right and just due.

Other know it's a lie. Mike Griffin, an editor of the Orlando Sentinel, just said on Hardball that So FL Election Supervisors are the "greatest threat to democracy" - and as Chris Matthews tried to pin it all on Gov Bush, Griffin said: "No, the blame lies with the DEM ELECTION SUPERVISORS." So, those who know what is going on already know who won this fight (Gov Bush, for spending $30 million to upgrade the FL voting system). And, who are the LOSERS (the supervisors who didn't teach the 70 year old volunteer poll workers how to turn on the machines in Miami and Lauderdale).

Said he got confused on the screen to "review his votes" erased everything, and and then left without casting a vote, because he was too tired to keep going. 61 posted on 9/12/02 6:48 PM Eastern by Goldwater Girl This is just simply too hard to believe. And why does this only happen in Dem counties in FL, where elections are run by Dem Election Supervisors, and the voters are mostly Dem? Gov Bush was right to ask what they heck is going on with Dem voters in FL...
If I am so stupid that I couldn't figure out how to vote, how in the hell do you think I am smart enough to fill out your form?

When asked why he didn't ask for help- he said his ballot was supposed to be SECRET- so he wouldn't show it to anybody.
Better NO vote than violate the secrecy.....only in Miami.
Forget the fact that he authorized some 3.5 million dollars to be spent on upgrading the systems. Many counties got the new touch screen systems.
So, she's decided to start the Dimocrap spin and make this an election issue by trying to blame him for the problems. I hope that most Floridians will see through this ploy. It was truly a disgusting display.

In Miami-Dade, nearly half of the ballots that were still uncounted Wednesday were cast by black voters.
are the ballots stamped with the voter's race??

The problem is not the machines, it's the people using them.
19 posted on 9/12/02 7:31 AM Eastern by Lil'freeper The Sun Sentinel adds this:- U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, said nothing Oliphant is accused of rises to the level of misdeeds he thinks were committed by former Secretary of State Katherine Harris in the 2000 election. He said Bush would face the wrath of black voters in the November election if he removes Oliphant. "I dare the governor to remove her," Hastings said. "He'll create a firestorm that will eclipse the one he created in the One Florida plan. He'll need Katherine Harris to count the votes for him again." So much for that idea, I guess. 42 posted on 9/12/02 8:51 PM Eastern by summer Hey, has anyone noticed that the three districts that seem to have the voting problems (Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward) are the SAME three districts that had the problem in the Presidential election? 49 posted on 9/12/02 9:44 PM Eastern by DGallandro Reno blamed Bush for "abdicating" his responsibilities in the voting precincts debacle, hoping, I suppose, that viewers are too stupid to realize that Jeb has nothing to do with running the polls in Democratic Party controlled Miami-Dade and Broward counties. TV reporter Michael Putney set the record straight immediately, however. He said Florida's Secretary of State offered to help to Leahy (Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections), and Oliphant (Broward Supervisor of Elections) last week and was told that no help was needed.
Perhaps the secretary of state needs to send supervisors for the surpervisors. Video cameras to tape constantly the whereabouts of the voting machines.
Looks to me like no matter HOW they try, no matter what stunts the Dems pull, people keep voting Republican, dag nabbit...
Democrats are bad for the neighborhood. A few rotten crooks are ruining the reputation of the good people of the state of Florida. Florida Republicans have a case...as soon as we have a voice in the courts...the Dems. are in trouble.(^:

Lol! I mailed this thread to 50 or so news-media outlets tonight. Before Nov. we may succeed in reminding a few press people that every vote counts, and the will of the people includes Republicans. Or, they'll be faced with the frightening Republican "loafer mob"...those wise, clean-cut voters who see right thru their Barbra Streisand. (^:
