[history]
Good evening. A long year has passed since enemies attacked our country. We've seen the images so many times, they are seared on our souls, and remembering the horror, reliving the anguish, re-imagining the terror is hard and painful.
For those who lost loved ones, it's been a year of sorrow, of empty places, of newborn children who will never know their fathers here on earth.

"Leather Pride Week" ???? What's wrong with Leather? It makes good coats....
To: Jeff Head
There are a few conservative democrats left in the House (of the old South variety) who still show a lick of sense. Correction: There is ONLY ONE - Zell Miller ... and even he is no better than the RINOs are on most votes. ... the rest are Liberals in "good ol' boy" clothing. Others like John Edwards are outright Clinton/Kennedy Liberal Democrats.

lib/dems like Mayor Vera Katz of Portland, Oregon are declaring a "Leather Pride Week" for her town. Go figure.... And these clueless NutJobs will not understand what the Islamic world is talking about when they refer to 'decadent America'.
Probably thinking they are talking about our big SUVs. (um, no ... I heard the Taliban loved those Land Cruisers).

"We don't understand the dynamic here on FR, but it is real -our less informed neighbors and fellow citizens just wanted to see Bush addressing the U.N. in a spirit of fellowship and cooperation. They wanted that base covered before we embark on military endeavors. Is it useless? We know it is! But, the folks out there - good willed Americans watching "American Idol" and lost in their Fantasy Football rosters - still think the U.N. is some moral beacon that should be involved. We're not going to need ANYTHING from the U.N. to execute this mission. There is some of that. but also there is more than just the feel-good aspect of "being nice". there is the real political and diplomatic cover of multilateralism. We go in now, and we can hand it off as a UN peacekeeping mission later - rather than choosing to leave Iraq in anarchy or become their colonizers, which has longer negative consequences wrt the Arab world. ... you have to think larger than Saddam. We need legitimacy and allies to help create a stable state in this region.
We dont need the UN to win the war, but we do need allies to make the peace something we can live with.
the gutless twerps in D.C. will jump on board. When America shows its resolve and success, the twerps in Europe will rush the bandwagon.
Agreed. great speech by Bush, it put the UN on notice to be relevent. It put Saddam on notice - your days are numbered.
Now its time to pray for the troops in the coming conflict ...

There may well be more ... and they may not all be in the south. In any case, whatever the number is, it is very small.

I got out, AB....out of the people's republic of WA. Now in FL where we intend to re-elect a Bush this year to run the place. It's not perfect (and not as beautiful as the N/W), but at least conservatives have a fighting chance here. It's too late for WA.
