The military now has in the region 1,500 Marines, 400 aircraft, 230 Abrams tanks, 120 Bradley fighting vehicles, two Navy cruisers, four destroyers and enough supplies to equip 30,000 troops. Shit this is so much bull. I know for a fact that we always have at least a Carrier Battle Group in the Persian Gulf. And that's no secret!!!!

It seems Bush will challenge the UN to enforce inspections, which the UN will agree to do. But along that path, Iraq will not cooperate, opening the door for unilateral US involvement.
Hopefully (for them), the Iraqi military will grasp their impending fate in advance, and get rid of Saddam, somehow. Barring that, US airpower turns out the lights in Iraq's air-defenses and bombs away at anything remotely like military infrastructure, bridges, highways, electrical grids, pipelines, oil loading depots, etc.
Eventually another military surrender. And down with Saddam.

Yup and they all sit in the Maxwell Smart voice dome to discuss it. LOL

The office of disinformation is hard at work keeping Saddam guessing about our strategery.

Evidently not enough aides were barred from the meeting since this leaked out!

While not in favor of a new war with Iraq at this time, I sincerely hope they have a few contingency plans in place!

I don't like to ask the obvious, but: If the NY Post has all these details, the bloody plan is not very secret now; is it Mate ?

Sounds like ol' Niles was under the gun to come up with some kind of story about Iraq and he just plucked this one out of thin air or some other unnamed place, attributed it to an unnamed source and, voila, another masterpiece of pseudo-reporting.

Your post is not irresponsible but you could tell that the writer of the story just ached to be irresponsible and compromise a serious war plan.
Even his speculation of size of force is information that an enemy can parlay into intelligence. It can determine a list of scenarios based on numbers.
What they don't know is that the Post got the numbers right.

The secret is no one knows what's really gonna happen and that makes me very happy. I have trust and faith in our President and his generals. This isn't gonna be pretty, but will be a battle plan for the history books. God Bless GW and God Bless the Soverign USA! Screw the U.N. and the baffoon Kofi Annan...what a joke!

Military sources told The Post last night that Franks unveiled the updated Iraqi battle plan - which included a detailed list of targets for massive airstrikes, as well as plans for rapid deployment of as many as 75,000 troops - on Tuesday, at a top-secret meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
If we go into Iraq with the objective of taking Baghdad with only 75,000 troops, we are going to see a lot of dead Americans, be defeated for the first time since Vietnam and there will be calls for Bush to resign for this unprecedented military disaster. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the Democraps introduced a measure in the House to impeach Bush although there is no way it would pass with GOP control of Congress.
This just goes to show that we have some really stupid and incompetent people in the Bush White House. The Joint Chiefs proposed a plan to use 250,000 troops, which was summarily rejected by Rummy and friends. Although I totally oppose a US invasion of Iraq as strategically self-defeating and in opposition to the US national security interest, if we do invade I would hope we employ the Weinburger doctrine and go in with massive force to minimize US casualties against a desperate enemy fighting to defend his home country with no where to run.
