[history]
September 12, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Gen. Tommy Franks, head of the U.S. Central Command, presented his latest plan to topple Saddam Hussein to top generals this week, as war planning against Iraq intensified inside the Pentagon.
Military sources told The Post last night that Franks unveiled the updated Iraqi battle plan - which included a detailed list of targets for massive airstrikes, as well as plans for rapid deployment of as many as 75,000 troops - on Tuesday, at a top-secret meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The military now has in the region 1,500 Marines, 400 aircraft, 230 Abrams tanks, 120 Bradley fighting vehicles, two Navy cruisers, four destroyers and enough supplies to equip 30,000 troops. Shit this is so much bull. I know for a fact that we always have at least a Carrier Battle Group in the Persian Gulf. And that's no secret!!!!

gosh thanks again to the press. guess it's not a secret anymore. It would not be as intolerable to me that the press hates america so much. At least they could have the decency to wear the proper flags on their lapels, you know, the one with the hammer and sickle on it.

So far there have been three or four "major" stories about our armed forces, their deployment, where and how the attack on Baghdad will play out, etc. All of them are "top secret plans" that were "leaked".
Do you know which one of them describes the true situation?
Neither does Saddam.

It seems Bush will challenge the UN to enforce inspections, which the UN will agree to do. But along that path, Iraq will not cooperate, opening the door for unilateral US involvement.
Hopefully (for them), the Iraqi military will grasp their impending fate in advance, and get rid of Saddam, somehow. Barring that, US airpower turns out the lights in Iraq's air-defenses and bombs away at anything remotely like military infrastructure, bridges, highways, electrical grids, pipelines, oil loading depots, etc.
Eventually another military surrender. And down with Saddam.

I agree.. They are acting 'worried' about leaks, but I'm sure they are intentional. Nothing makes the enemy nuts (and we know this, with the terra alerts) more than lots of misleading info to dig through.

DOD and rummie have one hell of a sense of humor...
rofl...
anybody who can read or has had family in the military KNOWS this is a for fun "leak" aimed at the freak show we call the radicals on arab street...
Tomorrow we will hear about the "double secret" plan for invading Iraq.... heh... heh... makes me wonder if the target is not someplace else altogether... or if there even is a real plan other than "seat of the pants"...
roflmao....

"Hopefully (for them), the Iraqi military will grasp their impending fate in advance, and get rid of Saddam, somehow."
THAT is what I suspect could be the most desireable outcome... and not just in Iraq either.

The office of disinformation is hard at work keeping Saddam guessing about our strategery.

While not in favor of a new war with Iraq at this time, I sincerely hope they have a few contingency plans in place!
