I guess I have to agree with "x"'s accessment about Pat being insightful but tone-deaf (my condensed take). Did you hear or read the UN speech yet? It seems that Bush has taken the UN at their word as to their primary worth and given them a "Prove It" demand.

So PJB isn't a member of the "Amen Chorus".
What else is new?
IMHO, that's one of Pat's most endearing attributes.
He has the spine to tell it like it is.

Yeah, had it on the tube.
Not entirely sure why I bothered...
Didn't hear anything surprising.

I think I understand your fanatic defense of buchanan now. You were obviously in the same staff war college as he and Saddam. Your grasp of the situation is startling foggy.

Perhaps one day you will finally understand why buchanan, advisor to presidents, never rose above speech writer.

It seems to me that Dubya should be making his case for going to War before Congress, not the UN.
But Congressional weasels are content in their roles as bickering obstructionists, more intent on micromanaging local school boards. I don't see any mature leadership in D.C. at all.

"This yahoo couldn't even see the need to get Saddam out of Kuwait who cares what he thinks about foreign policy."

Oh yeah, it was vital that we save the undemocratic Al-Sabah family installed by the British 80 years ago by stealing land from Iraq (had always been part of Iraq)to "create" a new country called Kuwait.

And our President (George I -x41) had the nerve to say that WE were defending the rule of Law.

Now we're once again going to occupy one of the largest oil reserves out of "self-protection". Puhleeze. Let's be honest folks.....follow the money.

I love Pat Buchannon, he knows stuff...

This article reminds of a quote:
"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there."

Should we let Hitler, Jr. and his cohorts rise in power so that we have to sacrifice more of our children down the road?

Who is Hitler, Jr.? You don't really mean Saddam, do you? Unfortunately I am at work and don't have the infinite amount of time it would require to lay out the differences between Hitler and Hussein. I remember, during the Gulf War, hearing repeatedly how Hussein was the new Hitler. Please . Yeah, they're both corrupt and bear evil intentions (which puts them in the same boat with most Democratic nominees for POTUS), but that's about where the similarities end.

BTW, newbie, welcome to Free Republic. Being a young conservative in the Bluegrass, do I know you?

"I'll give you a better solution. Keep Saddam contained and focus our efforts on destroying Al Qaeda cells. "

Those who are blinded by Pat-hate just can't see this obvious solution. It seems that those who advocate for American interests in the Near East are, by their definition, anti-Semitic.

We have used containment on much more dangerous countries than Iraq. Pat was right, foreign entanglements will bring war to our shores. BTW Pat was not for going to war for Taiwan or in Kosovo either which makes him anti-something-or-other too.

Why? He already has the permission of Congress.

September 14th resolution, anyone?

Al Qaeda is responsible for the deaths of 3,000+ of our citizens on our own soil, yet you want to pick a nit over where in Iraq these terrorists are?

NORTHEN IRAQ IS NOT UNDER SADDAM'S CONTROL. Hence you don't need to depose Saddam to get at the Al Qeada elements there. Is that so difficult to understand?

You mean where Congress once again abdicated it's Constitutional obligation to issue a formal decalaration of War???

September 14th resolution, anyone?

That resolution authorized the prez to go after the 9-11 perpetrators. From what information has been made public so far, Iraq is not one of those perpetrators.

To me they are one in the same.

Then you have some reading to do.

After all, Saddham did have a Boeing Commercial Airline Fuselage in Baghdad and had Al Qaeda operatives, including Mohammad Atta, actively training and using the fuselage to prepare for the attacks in America.

An exagerated repitition of unconfirmed reports made by unnamed sources. Forgive me if I am skeptical.

Like I said, it's a "twofer."

I didn't know Saddam had so many apologists here. Learn something new everyday.

Source: London Observer two months after 9/11/01. Information came from an investigation by Britain's Intelligence. Search the web and you'll find the article and information for yourself.

By Hitler I am refering to the desire and intention of genocide. That's all the parallel I need to be upset. Others may require a more exact interpretation. Perhaps I should have clarified my position better.

You probably don't know me. I moved to Union, Kentucky a few years back from Seattle, Washington. I love the Midwest and kiss the left-coast goodbye, forever. Or, at least until they clean up their liberal act. =)
