I'm not talking about hunting.
You come off sounding like a Libertarian trying to justify illegal drugs when you want piercing bullets. As far as most guns, I don't care at all.
What about .300 Win Mag? Good for elk and they zip right through a bullet proof vest. "Most" rifles are armor piercing. You come off as someone who believes the government should have a monopoly on the use of force.
Remember the "cop killer" bullet scare? Remember how many cops were killed with them? Zero, right? Interestingly, the public was previously unaware that most cops wear vests...After the AP bullet fiasco, criminals started shooting for the head.
The automatic type, piercing bullets do bother me. The sniper kind should go to liscences qualified hunters and re-sale should be the same as well.
Sorry pal, AP is still legally sold in the US as are your dreaded sniper rifles (bolt action rifles). Tell you what, you want my bolt gun or my battle carbine, YOU come and get them. Don't take the cowards way out and sent somebody else's kid to come register or confiscate them. YOU personally come and take them. You're going to have to kill me and my family and my friends and their families. There are eighty million gun owners in this country and even if 1% feel the way I do, you are going to have one giant seething problem on your hands. Not all Americans roll over on their backs and wet themselves like puppies when confronted by thugs. Bring it on!
Those have too much potential to kill folks in a terrorists hands.
You don't use guns to kill people in large numbers. Fertilizer or a gun free environment like an airliner are far, far more destructive than guns. To say nothing about all the bio-nasties floating around the FSU and Central Asia these days.
Just how I feel. I'm just one person though.
Emphasis on the word feel instead of think. And you're not just one person you're part of the increasingly senseless mobocracy who thinks basic human rights are subject to their whims.
I'm all for the NRA and the right to bare arms.
No you're not. You seem to think that licensed, registered deer hunters are the only people who have any right to arms.
Wouldn't qualify a bazooka or cannon under that right either though. There is limits on everything for you but the air you breath.
Go find someone with a 20mm Solothurn. Squeeze off a few. If you're not smiling there's fundamentally wrong with you.
No you're not.
Yes I am, get a grip. You are a bit zealous here!
No you're not. You're a power-tripping mobocrat who thinks your feelings trump my rights.
This is personal. Don't just pull a lever in a little box to destroy my freedoms. You come do it personally.

You seem unaware of the onslaught and draconian enforcement of ten of thousands of contradictory federal, state, municipal firearms laws in this country. A couple of threads on a tube or a bayonett lug is considered far worse than rape these days.
How many more phonebooks full of gun laws will it take until you feel safe.
We passed the point of reasonable restriction long ago. Gun bigotry has become reflexive for many Americans. We are on the same road Britian and Austrailia took.
... The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws. - Tacitus.
People trying to carry us down the slippery slope really don't seem to realize there is a significant subset of Americans who would shoot back before letting their arms be taken away.
Useful idiots, banning their way to serfdom in hopes of reaching utopia.
I have numerous intellectual justifications for the most basic human right of self defense. But when these freedom haters get intoxicated by the power of their mobocracy its best just to explain things on a personal level. They're used to letting their automatic payroll deduction do their dirty work. I for one have had enough.
Molon Labe.
And after that, it will be those nasty unsafe Glocks with no safeties. We're doing it for our kids, don't you know.
I seriously doubt that the owner of such a fine weapon would be playing with live rounds in his living room. Can you provide us with a reference to ANY accidental discharges from a .50 BMG rifle? Or to any reference where one was used in the commission of a crime?
