September 11 2002 - it's started already
September 11 2002 | Shaggy Eel

The first country to see the light of each new day, after the Kingdom of Tonga, is New Zealand. September 11 2002 is happening as I write this. Already today, a dawn parade commemorating last year's tragedy has passed in our largest city, Auckland. Yachties will know this city as the present home of the America's Cup. Today though, only one thought was in mind as OLD GLORY was raised to half mast on the most important flagpole atop of Auckland's harbour bridge.

Services of Rememberance are scheduled throughout New Zealand today, one of which will be attended by US Ambassador Charles "Butch" Swindells, at St Paul's Cathedral in Wellington. Additionally, he will plant a tree in the grounds of the American Embassy in the central Wellington suburb of Thorndon this morning with New Zealand's Prime Minister to mark the first anniversary of September 11.

At 8,46am (46 minutes from now), the Orpheus Choir will start a recital of Mozart's Requiem, starting a world recital to be carried on in different cities around the globe as the day unfolds.

Any support that our country gets, touches my heart more than I can say. God Bless New Zealand.

I beleive that one of the most important reasons that the heroic American Society evolved is because it was decoupled from the European society in decline during it's most important formative stage. Thanks to the Atlantic, and the Pacific Oceans. But unfortunately, these Oceans have shrunk, thanks to the Jet Age and instant communication. We saw this effect on 9.11.
Another Dark Age will certainly allow these Oceans to be again big enough to perhaps nurture and protect it from the enfluence of declining World Society. Maybe New Zealand, and Australia perhaps?

What died that any shoould mourn? There is no glory in this mourning, when action is wasted so as to mourn the more and better. These memorials are of what? That freedom was killed?

Freedom and Liberty under the Rule of Law -- those are nigh dead -- but who is mourning that? Who even is set to the repair of it?

There is no benefit to be had in this mourning -- it is an indulgent excess, one that traps many into a sick substitute for needed action. It will breed victims, and create a political playpiece that will be played on us again and again, all for the lack of any genuine reaction and comfort. What is to mourn tomorrow, Mommy? And many will find something, for so social forces ever have worked in history. Shall we have a Department of Mourning and Memorials? That old fetid mosquito swamp known as DC is full of memorials and such gradiouse trifles.

The necessity of present action could hardly be clearer -- but we are a generation of ninnies and girly-men who love parades and placing stuffed toy animals at the sites of massacres like offerings to the bloody idol-gods that took our fellow citizens. A memorial, Mommy Hillary, give us another billion for a fitting memorial, cry firemen and police who should be men yet in this come off as crying little brats such political crooks as Hillary love to suckle.

If there are any real men or women out there they know we must put down our mortal enemies, repair the education of our young in respect for Liberty and Freedom -- those things that are lost to the selfishly indulgent spirit of this great faux mourning.

It is a trap for the fools led by fools.

Like any American, I'm very happy for the support and empathy of the people at the Antipodes -- but it is being tawdily misdirected.

,,, the world needs a shake up. On the basis of historical shake ups we may be overdue anyhow. There's never been a better time. The US has superior technology at hand and their ability to deploy such an effort, should it wish to, is well proven. However, technology, wherever possible, should serve to keep the loss of US troops to an absolute minimum. I don't want to see the US buy into another Vietnam.

To: shaggy eel; All
I just thank all of you folks, EVERYWHERE here on our common planet...for caring so much about us here in the USA, not ever sparing your concern, interest, and support. That has made it all endurable, and helped us (perhaps me, especially!) to DEFY this grotesque evil which was done to us, and our children.

You have shown and proven yourselves to be the best there is, and, well please just know that we are with YOU...now that we know that you really exist...our all having pushed our way through the press and media in all our countries...thanks to this forum that heroic people have provided for us.

Something most of the world, including America perhaps forgot -- and a small, miserable minority try fiercely to not accept -- is that America is HUMANITY'S possession...the first and largest expression of mankind's deepest desire to live free of oppression, with dignity and good character, and respect for their fellow man, and all children, everywhere. It was wrongly forgotten, or marginized for social convenience and gentility, that this Nation of Man was first populated by ancient wanderers, seeking food and resources for their suffering families, then by Europeans seeking the same, and freedom from oppression, violence, and disease...and then by individuals from all around the globe...all seeking better lives for themselves and loved-ones, in this blessed place which was built by and for the noble spirit of man, through the blessings of God...for all.

We had also perhaps forgotten, and now remember, that we were formed in the fire and blood of wrongful war...never shrank from it, even on behalf of others, far away...and because of our Inheritance -- built, preserved and delivered to us through the unimaginable sacrifice of our predecessors, by their broken bodies...and noble hearts -- given a place of safety beyond any that the world has ever known. We knew, and know that with right and human decency on our side, no matter how long it takes, or how much of our own blood we pour into this thirsty earth, anywhere in the world...that we shall ultimately prevail, and win the day for those who are being murdered, and abused. This is why you built us, and this is who we are. We are not an ethnic group here, we are the Human race, yearning to be free. We remain willing for you, and shed more tears and prayers on your behalf, than you would ever believe. Those who enjoy less luxury and freedom, especially at the hands of those who rob them as a profession, would never expect it. But we were formed and tempered in blood, for you, by your own, to be your champions and allies, should you try to be free. We are still here, yours, and willing.

Well, it's 11:55pm now, here in New York, the evening of September 10, 2002.

Should those who hate us...hate YOU, succede in killing us again through the coming hours, I just want you to truly know that as necessary, and allowed by God...we know that we are your Americans, it is part of our jobs, and our responsibility to bravely and defiantly take it, because you, our brothers and sisters from every nation need it, and deserve it. We know there is great wealth here, and are cavalier in our assumption of it, when the going is easy. We are only human people, just like you, and perhaps you would be the same in our place, perhaps better. But know this: we will fight for the right and ability of our fellow human beings to exist, be free, happy, and to flourish in prosperity...no matter where they may happen to be...and want only the best for all of you, your children, and all those to come. We hope that you will continue this struggle for all time, if we are taken from you.

One more point. Our, your enemies, those vile and contemptible murderers of the innocent and unsuspecting, of all nations -- who have wounded us -- did us the greatest service. They reminded us of our true purpose here, how and why our system was founded, how different and beautiful it is on the face of the Earth, and that we are WARRIORS in this cause, always were, and are at our very best when we are struggling to liberate those millions less fortunate than ourselves, as others -- some of your very ancestors, representatives of their people -- fought, suffered and died for...so that human goodness and freedom shall not now or ever perish from the Earth. If the flame is taken from us, we know that you will relight it yourselves, and continue this most important work.

We thank you, we love you, we ask for your forgiveness and understanding in anything you believe we have done wrong, or should have done better, and we know that you will keep the spark of truth and human nobility alive, and struggle, even to the death, just as your American family has done, and is determined to continue doing, forever. May we all look forward to a wonderful and joyous year ahead, and may the eyes of the world and children everywhere see the blessed torch of love and freedom endure throughout this new century, and forever.

-Mark

Correction! The CA College in question was SDSU. my alma mater that is getting NO money due to their cowardly PC garbage. Otherwise, nice rant. I would much rather break things and kill bad guys. Actually, I would prefer to be at 9/10/01 with two towers and 3,000 Americans whole and healthy.

,,, did you know when it's not overcast, particularly in summer, we've got an incredibly vicious burn time here? Kids have to wear sunhats in the playgrounds at school. In 15 - 20 minutes you can get burnt some days.

Your wish is my command :)

Have you ever wondered? Red, white, and blue make a striking color combination, but have you ever wondered if there is any special meaning associated with those colors or with the five pointed white stars on our "star spangled banner?"

On June 14, 1777, Congress adopted a resolution calling for a flag with thirteen stripes, alternating red and white, and with a blue canton or "union", with thirteen white stars. The resolution defined the significance of the colors: "White signifies Purity and Innocence; Red, Hardiness and Valor; Blue, Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice."

The thirteen stripes and thirteen stars, of course, represented the original thirteen colonies. The five pointed stars used as a symbol in flag design was relatively rare until its incorporation into the American flag. It has since been used in many state flags and in foreign flags, including Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and the once sovereign nations of the Republic of Texas and the Kingdom of Hawaii. Based on the American usage, the star has come to be associated in flag design with unity, independence, or to represent the constituent parts of a nation.

Until 1818, an additional star and stripe was added as each new state was admitted to the Union. By 1816 it had become evident that the practice was not practical, and on April 4, 1816, a new scheme was made official. The Flag of the United States would have thirteen stripes, alternating red and white, and a blue canton on which a white star would be added for each state. Each star would be added to the flag on the July 4th following the admission of the new state to the Union.

Although the scheme of the flag was official, the law was vague about the exact layout of the flag. Thus, throughout the nineteenth century, a variety of star arrangements was in existence. The flag was very popular, and since it created a sense of unity among the states, the variations in its appearance were deemed unimportant.

In 1912, however, the government specified official patterns, proportions and colors, giving us the Flag we know today.

Hey there shaggy!

You Kiwis are wonderful! You have no idea how good it is to hear that there are countries out there who support us, and still stand by us. Our trashy media is filled with "everyone hates us" and that's all we hear.

God bless you down under! Please give you and yours our regards!
