Besides, some people here will criticize Bush no matter what he does.

And some people here will criticize those who criticize Bush no matter what he does.

I thought I heard in the background today that another tape of bin Laden has been received...I think it's audio...and hasn't there been a trend of bin Laden surfacing and terrorist attacks occurring shortly thereafter?

That might be another reason for the upgrade in alert. No?

Regards,

Remember the threat to the banks in the northeast back in March I think...they raised it to high then...

I remember the banks threat, but don't remember the level being raised. You may be correct, as I don't check it everyday. Thanks!

THE DECISION to raise the threat assessment level from “yellow” — indicating a serious threat of terrorist attack — to “orange” came after U.S. intelligence learned of “specific and credible” threats against U.S. embassies

If it's just about embassies, then why raise it domestically? We don't have any US embassies in this country.

(09-10) 08:48 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) --  Fearful of new terror attacks but armed with little specific information, the United States has adopted "a higher sense of guard" in the run-up to the Sept. 11 anniversary, the White House said Tuesday.

While officials say they have no details outlining an impending attack, they're taking no chances.

Vice President Dick Cheney spent Monday night at an undisclosed location outside Washington. Aides said there was no specific threat against Cheney, but the anniversary has produced a heightened buzz in the intelligence community and officials want to protect the continuity of government in case of an attack.

Cheney was working in the White House on Tuesday morning, but his upcoming schedule, including a speech Tuesday night and participation in Sept. 11 commemorations Wednesday, is under review, aides said.

I'm at work, which is within 10 miles of Limerick. If anything does happen there, traffic will be horrendous. It took two and a half hours to go ten miles during a surprise snow storm.

(09-10) 08:32 PDT BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- In Iraq's most belligerent remarks in the current standoff with Washington, Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan urged all Arabs on Tuesday to confront the United States, its people and its property by any means.

The comments stopped short of explicitly calling on Arabs to attack Americans but underlined Iraq's drive to sway world -- and particularly Middle Eastern -- opinion behind it against U.S. threats of a possible strike to oust Saddam Hussein.

I don't know, but the fact that they are deploying SAM's around DC, now this. They have some info...This does not look to be just a precaution, I think they have some solid intel of an attack. I say hit em first, the best defense is a good offence.
