We will be participating in the requiem in Tucson, Arizona. Tune in to your classical radio affiliate (probably NPR) to hear a local performance or concert recording.
Even the ultra-libs at NPR couldn't nix this broadcast which like all requiems--that is, masses for the dead-- is a prayer for Christ's mercy on the day of judgment.
I highly recommend a glance at this translation of this solemn choral mass.

Hold your nose for the obligatory multicultural references if you go to this site.

Too late to see *all* of our former Presidents unite behind President Bush. Clinton was bashing him just a few days ago for not finishing the job with bin Laden before making the case to press on to Iraq.
Oh, he may, and probably will, mouth some words saying he supports the current administration, but he doesn't. Anybody can see he doesn't.
Richard Hynson, music director of the Bel Canto Chorus, has organized a local Mozart Requiem. Sign up by calling the Bel Canto office. The performance, at the Basilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th St., will be open and free to the public.
The audience will likely be small for a thrown-together performance at 8:46 a.m., but that's beside the point. You don't have to hear a Rolling Requiem to take comfort in its existence.
Remember that those responsible for the atrocities of Sept. 11 hate music and helped to ban it in Afghanistan. In Kabul, musicians are playing again. And while Mozart's Requiem resounds around the globe Wednesday, the surviving plotters will cower in caves. Music wins, fanatics lose.
Did you catch Cheney's rebuttal on the Timmy show? It was beautiful!
I did and it was!!!
He even got a subtle slam on Tim in when he pulled the paper out of his pocket and said (paraphrase) that he knew Tim liked to use props so he (Cheney) had brought a prop of his own. All said in his serious VP voice. Love him.
VICE PRES. CHENEY: I brought along a little piece of paper with me, Tim. You always have props, so I brought one with me this morning,
I didn't know, am not surprised and yet disgusted just the same.
I find this to be absolutely charming!
I am sure he (the veep) would not be insulted in the least.
To which I say it's a sop to their duped 'members'. Somehow, I can't see NPR relishing this loss of control to Middle America even if it is only for an hour on the most important day of 2002.
