I'll make this short and sweet. I have not seen evidence for a reason to invade Iraq or demand a regime change there.
Okay, Saddam gassed his own people twelve years ago or so. There have been multiple accusations of his development of weapons of mass destruction, including biological and chemical weapons development.
All the TV footage I see of Saddam Hussein is about 10 years old. Show me the evidence.
And I'm supposed to feel bad about that? I thought you'd never offer. There are other people here I'd like to discuss this with, however, and I'm staying. Get used to it.
Iraq .. No But I think others do
Wasn't there that china problem during the Clinton years??
If we knew, it wouldn't be classified, would it? And... Iraq would know what we know. That defeats the whole purpose of intelligent data.
Truly, I respect your view, but it really has everything to do with the protection of the data, and the respect that the curent White House occupant possesses.
Bush is playing a very calculated game of chess. He has yet to say WHAT he's going to do; only that we are going to do something. I think Bush is slowly pressuring the Iraqi inhabitants into doing the job for us. If that doesn't work, we're systematically blinding Saddaam with strategic strikes on the few good toys he has left. Either way, troop loss will be minimal. Not every politician is self interested in accolades and power. Some actually mean what they say and take their responsibilities seriously. Bush is a good man. He's got Saddam chasing his tail and you want to interrupt this because you (and Saddam) are left out of the intelligence loop. Trust. Bush isn't Clinton. GWB actually has integrity and loves his country.
Now now Fred .. play nice
And what is your contribution to the discussion here?
Thanks for the bump.
Great post, with a great ending. You're spot on.
Good on you girl, as they say in Australia. Fred is ok. His main problem could be that they won't let him run Meade County, Kentucky. I grew up in Kentucky myself, and I know how deep those feelings run.
Change the name "Bush" to any future POTUS who comes along, and your statement sends chills down my spine. If Congress indeed intended such a blanket, open-ended abdication of its authority to the Executive branch, we may live to see our freedom permanently lost. "Security" and "need to know" are important principles and practices in which I am well versed, but can also be havens for abuse of power. I would never entrust ANY president with total authority without vigorous balancing oversight from Congress and the Judiciary. And to our elected representatives in Congress is exactly where the evidence against Saddam Hussein must go.
Today's announcement that President Bush will seek the approval of Congress before proceeding against Iraq was politically wise, and the right thing to do. In so doing, he will have to do what Fred Mertz is asking -- to show hard evidence against Iraq to our elected representatives. If the evidence is as strong as Administration officials insist, then Congress will overwhelmingly support his request. And they will have to sign on -- unequivocably -- to a course of action. It would be foolish to enter the uncertainties of war without the American people united for the long term -- and that means UNITED ON THE RECORD through the informed vote of our elected representatives. There is no down side to this proper course of action.
Proud??? .. Of course not Fred
Look at the big picture Fred .. you can bet he has this stuff .. Now can you tell me he won't use them??
Do you really think he wouldn't give this stuff to the Hate American Nut Cases so they can kill THOUSANDS of American's??
Do you really think that is impossible???
That's what they said about Clinton. Don't drop the soap, Ben.
So, you're accepting smoke and mirrors because you like the guy?
I only want a little bit of evidence. That's all.
Wow... what a great way to end that list!
You gave plenty of evidence to your lack of perspective by refusing to respond to my post #7.
