WASHINGTON (AP) Anti-globalization demonstrators, relatively subdued since the Sept. 11 terror attacks, are preparing a clamorous return to the streets this month when the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meet.

Protest organizers said Tuesday they expect thousands to turn out on the weekend of Sept. 28 outside the Washington headquarters of the global financial institutions. The demonstrators oppose policies they say harm the environment and people in poor countries.

"Opposing THEM does not imply acceptance of all forms of globalization. "

"It most certainly does..."

Balderdash and poppycock!! The EnviroWhackos protesting these things are nutball idiots who do the propoganda for the real Socialists!! If they were against globalization, why the heck aren't they camped out at the United Nations?! 'Cuz these frootloops would love for the United Nations to come in and rule the World in a Socialist Utopia that would, of course, provide cushy jobs for them.

You should know this, my FRiend...next thing yer gonna tell me is that Liberals are fer Freedom and Liberty.

Yes, I posted early and often herein. I'm figuring it would *NOT* be good for people to think that we're pro-IMF! I'm thinking, well, that would be, well, very strange! But what would be *really* strange would be if any of those unwashed masses (as opposed to their press spokesmen) actually thought they were showing up on a specific issue that didn't involve drugs or socialism.

Also, and I'm *really serious* about this, I've just about *had* it with the greenies littering in my front yard.

"I don't agree with you about free trade agreements"

That's cool: I'm not even sure I have too firm an opinion on them. Believe me, if you lived in DC, it would be all you could do to form an opinion on whether to protest against anti-war, anti-U.S. socialists. This issue is for me quite simple: these people hate America. And they little in my front yard. And they are smelly (seriously, really grimey last year). You don't know *how* many signs I saw trying to explain the difference between socialism and anarchism. Criminee. And that's even *before* we talk about the groups of kids who all dress in black and where bandannas and walk around with cannisters. I can't believe the DC police don't nip that stuff in the bud. Wait, what am I saying. . . . But that's another thread.

I hope they get it right this time and burn the son of a bitch down.

I know you're just being rhetorical but the reason you shouldn't say that is simple: it's the other side that is threatening harm to property and not obeying the law. We conservatives are the law-abiders. This is the month of September. Look, I'm the last person to play Miss Manners usually (ok, next to last), but let's not be talking about burning anything down, even in jest. That's their style, not ours.

They are just anti-globalization because they are not the globalists in control.

You know, at first I laughed at this, regarding it shallowly as cute shot-across-the-blow.

But then I read it again. This is precisely correct. This is really it in the nutshell. If there's anything that unites the various forms of power-hungry liberals who will set upon this city late September, your point is the true convergence of the anarchists and the greenies and what not.

Belated applause. Sheesh, if I weren't talking so much in this thread, maybe I could hear better.

The protestors are a motley crew, I loathe what they do, and what they stand for, but I gotta tell you, I'm almost as angry at the elitist goobers who keep planning these meetings in world capitals. Maddning, infuriating, where oh where has common sense gone?

No doubt. You'd think that the IMF/World Bank would hold one of their big meetings in Lubbock, Texas. Make the protestors fly into the desert, march under the steaming hot sun, and argue with armed rednecks in pickup trucks...

Thanks for your astute observation about leaving out Free Republic's web address while including the other group's url. Kristinn and I noticed this, too, when I read the article to him.

If I were there with y'all, that's the sign I'd carry. toenail clippings? Sure. In other toe-related news, I was stung by a dead bumblebee yesterday. Went out barefooted to smoke, and stepped on it. Thanks for your inquiry.

Also, I've had a link to this on my profile page for some time now. Worth reading.

It sounds like the DC Chapter will be protesting the protesters. That's cool.

"I'm a newbie to the DC Chapter and shouldn't presume to speak for the whole group..."

It seems to me like you have done a great job explaining why you will be protesting those dweebs.
They may visit DC every now and again, but they live in my backyard. Your description of them is right on the money.

Y'all have a great FReep!
