WASHINGTON (AP) Anti-globalization demonstrators, relatively subdued since the Sept. 11 terror attacks, are preparing a clamorous return to the streets this month when the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meet.
Protest organizers said Tuesday they expect thousands to turn out on the weekend of Sept. 28 outside the Washington headquarters of the global financial institutions. The demonstrators oppose policies they say harm the environment and people in poor countries.

I don't agree with you about free trade agreements, but it doesn't matter one whit in terms of a counter-protest of these groups. You understand that perfectly, but some people here may not.
These groups claim to want the same thing you do, but for vastly different reasons.

Actually, a Democracy is Mob-Rule. That's what we DO HAVE right now, as our Republic hasn't really existed for a long time. As a result, the population is voting itself the bank, and that's why each little group is coddling the politician that they think will disseminate the tax dollars to their collective interest.
To: Dog Gone
Yes, but Dog Gone, our signs are very specific on what we're responding to, so as much confusion as there may be on their side, there should be none on ours.
I completely understand and don't blame loyal Freepers here for some confusion, but I hope my posts have helped to clarify. Kinda been posting early and often to ensure that alarm doesn't spread where it shouldn't. (This is important for a simple, practical fact: DC Chapter has done a lot and is doing a lot. Last thing we need is for people to get needlessly picked upon when what we need is high morale and everyone working together. September looks to be a busy month.)
To: FreedomFriend
By "democracy" I refer to our republican form of representative demoracy. But of course. Just hard to fit that on a sign. ;) Hey, cut me a break here! Or don't, keep me honest, for I am.
But right now I have to go watch a movie with boyfriend. God Bless you.
To: All
With my personal apologies for posting so continuously here. Sheesh, I feel I should pay rent on this thread.
When and if the leaders in the DC Chapter (not me) announce our plans, which may come later rather than sooner due to disruptor risks I figure, I hope you all do join and enthusiatically encourage people to participate in a protest for American values and against the "Anti-Capitalist Convergence."
To: FreedomFriend
I'm completely patient with you on this one because their supposed rallying slogan IS CONFUSING. But the reality of who they are and what they represent is not. Hey trust us, the DC Chapter's not dumb!I'm not sure yet if I jumped the gun but it would seem like then, these people are protesting their own group...Of course, it IS Washington...

"I'd like to be their protesting the WTO and IMF."
Amen! When the IMF steps in and hands out money to countries
it's like dealing with %100 per day loan shark. The IMF has caused massive suffering and deaths of millions. The big world wide central banks work hand in hand with them.

FR is about supporting whoever has an (R) after their name.
I've tried to explain that the R doesn't stand for Right, but it's not of much use anymore.
The World Bank and IMF should be abolished. Odd that the stupid hippie leftists don't realize it's actually Global Socialism, and there's nothing capitalist about any of it....
Strange thing is, they're accidently right, They ARE bad for developing nations. Not to mention our wallets.
To: Dog Gone
It's NONE of those things you mentioned. Bwahahahahahaha... amusing.
It's actually ALL of those things. A world government IS inevitable.
You guys are just fighting over which band of corrupt thieves gets to run it.
To: DAnconia55
You're a stooge of the commies and you don't even realize it.
You think it's funny.

Thank you for posting this article. David Ho spoke to Kristinn earlier today and we were watching for the article.
Hey DC Chapter members! The AP has requested a command performance by the DC Chapter of Free Republic. This is the same group that marched past us between the Archives and the Navy Memorial last year on September 29. Are you ready to greet them again with flags and signs and witty chants? FReep On!

Re: post #56. You've gotta be kidding.
I assure you that no one is more anti-globalization than myself on this forum. Yet I will be out there counter-protesting these eco-fascists. They are not anti-globalization. They are just anti-globalization because they are not the globalists in control.
Educate yourself. 'Pod

Liz Butler, an organizer with the Mobilization for Global Justice, said ''Last year taught everyone that we have to act now because we don't know what the future holds.'' She has just agreed that we need to go after Iraq. Wahoo!

"In a protest preview, about 20 members of Butler's group demonstrated..." SHEEEESH, 20 Enviro-Whackos show up and the AP covers it slavishly while we couldn't get a nibble of coverage out of them when we had 100's calling for Clinton's Resignation!! No Vast LeftWing Medyuh Bias, my arse!!
Sounds like a fun FReep, y'all...MUD

Thanks for the ping. I couldn't help but notice the AP article includes a link to the anarchists' website and neglected to post a link to FR.

Eloquent as usual, FTH. You have done an excellent job of explaining the situation. Thanks.
