Clinton Orchestrated McAuliffe Attack on Bush

More evidence that ex-president Clinton is actively working behind the scenes to undermine President Bush emerged this weekend, with the revelation that the wording of a caustic attack on Bush delivered by Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe last month was personally reviewed and approved of by the ex-president ahead of time.

"Ever the master political strategist, Clinton also regularly dispenses advice to Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, his longtime friend," reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday.

"Before McAuliffe delivered a blistering attack on the Bush administration's economic policies last month, the party chairman had Clinton review the speech," the paper added.

The Clinton-orchestrated McAuliffe address, delivered at the party's Las Vegas convention on Aug. 10, raised eyebrows for the harshness of its rhetoric, which included the claim that the Bush White House had cynically tried to manipulate the 9-11 tragedy for political advantage.

The next day the Washington Post reported:

"Although Democrats once claimed to stand 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with Bush on the war, McAuliffe threw away that script by accusing the president of using 'September's tragedy to explain away' the reappearance of federal budget deficits and saying that Bush had 'cynically made 9/11 the cornerstone of the Republican strategy for 2002.'"

In his Clinton approved address, McAuliffe also skewered the Bush economic record, telling the Las Vegas crowd, "Every time this economic team opens its mouth, markets shudder, currencies collapse and Americans watch their 401(k)s dwindle."

The Clinton-McAuliffe speech even attacked Bush on the scandal front, signaling that the ex-president has no qualms raising ethical questions about opponents despite his own record of wall-to-wall scandal while in office, not to mention his repeated disavowals of "the politics of personal destruction."

"To paraphrase a Republican hero, Mr. President, tear down this stonewall," McAullife railed, in reference to Bush's refusal to approve the release of records from the Security and Exchange Commission's probe into his old oil company Harken Energy.

Another campaign message pushed by Clinton is beginning to creep into the campaign rhetoric of Democrats, the Journal-Constitution said; that a Democratic majority in Congress is the best "check" on the Bush White House.

Presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton touted the importance of a congressional check on Bush on Friday, as she described her visit to U.S. soldiers injured in Afghanistan who were recovering at Washington's Walter Reed Medical Center.

With her husband at her side, Clinton told a crowd at the New York State Fair that President Bush should seek congressional approval before launching an attack on Iraq that could result in more U.S. casualties.

"I have personal faces I can put on this debate, and I want to be sure that the president comes with his arguments and information and evidence and that we debate it, and then as a nation we'll stand behind the decision," Mrs. Clinton advised.

Some tracking of financial records between the Clintons and China might hang them.

Bubba Bush can't afford to complain about connections to China. Ever heard of "Uncle Prescott"? Or even "Poppy",as far as that goes? Quick, name the president who gave China PERMANENT "most favored nation" trade status!

well, of course Clinton is behind this. The democrats have demonstrated they are unable to think for themselves and do anything remotely independent of his approval.

Democrats really have no choice. Remember, he is their only symbol of success in 40+ years--an impeached, perverted, teenage-minded 50-something sink stainer--is the most successful Democrat in over a generation.

He, btw, was the "final straw" in causing me to personally walk away from his Party.

I'm so glad to be a...

I suspect that if the Arkansas Hillbillies continue with the smear campaign, Global Crossing and Terry McAufful will undergo EXTREME Investigation for Insider Trading, Stock Malipulation and Illegal Loans.

You won't see any investigations unless Republicans win the Senate and regain the chairmanship of Senate committees.

The clintons must have some pretty bad stuff on Bush I and Bush II.

The 'toons don't need any bad stuff, they can always make up any fiction they please and the leftist propoganda mill aka the mainstream press will report it as gospel.

The clinton years ushered in Republican gains. May "ever the master of political strategist" continue destroying his own party.

POLITICAL FALL-OUT

- According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Democrats held a 1,542 seat lead in the state bodies in 1990. As of November 2000 that lead had shrunk to 288. That's a loss of over 1,200 state legislative seats, nearly all of them under Clinton. Across the US, the Democrats controlled only 65 more state senate seats than the Republicans.

Further, in 1992, the Democrats controlled 17 more state legislatures than the Republicans. After November, the Republicans control one more than the Democrats. Not only was this a loss of 9 legislatures under Clinton, but it was the first time since 1954 that the GOP had controlled more state legislatures than the Democrats (they tied in 1968).

Here's what happened to the Democrats under Clinton:

- GOP seats gained in House since Clinton became president: 48
- GOP seats gained in Senate since Clinton became president: 8
- GOP governorships gained since Clinton became president: 11
- GOP state legislative seats gained since Clinton became president: 1,254 as of 1998
- State legislatures taken over by GOP since Clinton became president: 9
- Democrat officeholders who have become Republicans since Clinton became president: 439 as of 1998
- Republican officeholders who have become Democrats since Clinton became president: 3

Terry may soon learn what being a close friend of the Clintoons is all about. I say keep running your mouth Terry and soon you will be broke and wearing a Jump Suit much Like Mr. McDougal wore!"

I like this sentiment!! Let's trust Dubyuh and the soon-to-be GOP Senate majority to carry out that mission.

I can't believe that GWB continues to honor those insane 'deals' [ i.e., no prosecutions, and outright protection against Judicial Watch, etc. ] he made with these perverts and traitors. His disregard for law enforcement and honoring his oath of office is resulting in a reaping of what he has sown.

GWB must be one helluva nice guy. He lets the clintons do everything they can to undermine his authority and he never gets upset. He looks the other way and goes out of his way to provide cover for the clintons. He even refuses to provide evidence to others that may prove damaging to the clintons. He must have voted for them too. Gee what a guy.

This compassion runs deep. Racicot thinks McAuliffe is a great guy! Above board. Innocent. Move on. LOL!

Bush picks former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot to head Republican National Committee

Novak's right: Racicot should go. An Enron lobbyist as RNC chair? Forget it!

CNN INSIDE POLITICS - Transcript - Aired July 19, 2002 - 16:00 ET
"WOODRUFF: The two major party chairmen are with me now to talk about the politics of corporate responsibility and the upcoming midterm elections. Republican Mark Racicot is in San Francisco. Democrat Terry McAuliffe is here in Washington. Gentlemen, both of you have corporate ties.

Terry McAuliffe, you were invested in Global Crossings. It's now under investigation by the SEC. Mark Racicot you lobbied for companies including Enron. My question to both of you, is are you both appropriate spokesman for your party on these issues? Terry McAuliffe.

TERRY MCAULIFFE, DNC CHAIRMAN: All can I tell you is Republicans keep talking about Global Crossing. I was merely an investor. I never worked for the company. I was not on the board. I was never an officer. I was fortunate to be an investor in that company and I feel bad for everybody who lost money and the shareholders that lost money, that people lost their job.

Judy, I merely invested. I was like millions of people who owned stock in companies and had no say over the management, how the company was run. We can't hold people accountable just because they hold shares of a company.

WOODRUFF: Mark Racicot, you lobbied for several companies including Enron.

MARK RACICOT, RNC CHAIRMAN: Well, I performed legal services for Enron. But let me say plainly that Terry McAuliffe is imminently well qualified to speak for the Democratic party. The fact of the matter is, we all ought to in this country make certain that we avoid the kind of suggestion or innuendo or implication that somehow impunes the character of people for having been associated with some kind of a business entity and there's no proof whatsoever to suggest anything inappropriate. That's the case with Terry McAuliffe. It's the case with me. It's the case with the president. It's the case the vice president. People ought to quit trying to opportunistically take advantage of this particular issue. WOODRUFF: Let me ask you both about this. At a time when we're talking about corporate responsibility, both of your parties are taking enormous amounts of money from corporations. Over the last 10 years, the Republicans have taken in over $635 million. The Democrats have taken in $450 million. Is there -- where is the truth when both parties are going after this money at the same time you're saying corporations clean your house.

Bill Clinton broke the law and the Republicans let him off the hook.

What we need is the tough Newt Gingrich back.

"As far back as April 7, 1998, then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich
was asked on NBC’s Today if he were going to press for impeachment.
His response: "No, we don’t have any evidence."

Source.

Al Gore Broke The Law and the Republicans let him off the hook.

"I don’t care if you have proof that he raped a woman, stood up and shot her dead, you’re still not going to get 67 votes."

Bush Says He Wants to Let Clinton 'Move On'
"Listen, here's my view: I think it's time to get all of this business behind us. I think it's time ... to allow the president to finish his term, and let him move on and enjoy life and become an active participant in the American system. And I think we've had enough focus on the past. It's time to move forward." - George W. Bush.

Bush Won't Dwell On Clinton Affair, "We're Moving Forward"
"B/S, Mr Bush. Clinton is a criminal and a traitor. We demand a thorough investigation and prosecution. Our Republic is dead and our liberty is at stake if the next administration does not clean up this mess for now and forever more. Corrupt politicians must pay the price for subverting our Constitution and using their offices for personal gain."

It is NOT 67 votes. It is 2/3 of the Senate (100) Senators. 2/3 of 100 = 66.66666666666666......
Ah, I guess you're right. Can't have 2/3 of a person.

President Bush is not going to do what you suggest!
To say that you don't feel sorry for him for what the Clinton's are doing is something I can't understand.
The Clintons are the ones responsible here, not Bush's lack of going after them. He would get trampled by the media if he dared try, and he knows it! The very idea of blaming Bush for their inexcusable behavior is just so wrong IMO.
