Arab Forum Assails Jews, 9/11 'Propaganda'

CAIRO -- A think tank affiliated with the Arab League, the 22-nation group that seeks to forge a unified voice among its members, ended a two-day conference on "Semitism" this week at which participants labeled Jews "enemies of all nations," challenged the Jewish claim to Israel and cast doubt on the U.S. account of who was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Arab League, an important regional player that this year promoted a pan-Arab initiative for peace that held out the promise of normal relations with Israel, said it did not directly organize the event. However, it participated with an official representative, whose speech focused on the idea that Arabs cannot be anti-Semitic because they are Semites.

Jewish groups in the United States condemned the league's participation, saying it amounted to "a stamp of approval."

A story on this was posted before, but this article contains a few nice juicy nuggets:

The Arab League declined several requests to comment....

The Zayed Center [which staged the event] refused to comment on the telephone and did not respond to a written request for comment sent via fax....

The events of Sept. 11 were "concocted, because we still do not possess concrete evidence of the real perpetrators and their objectives," Mohammed Khalifa Hassan, director of the Center of Oriental Studies at Cairo University, said in response to a question at the seminar....

Hassan did not respond to two calls for comment....

Here's the official Web page for this bilge.

To expose the fallacious claims and concocted legends of the Zionists and to counter their nefarious propaganda against Arabs and Muslims after September 11 events, in particular, the ZCCF organized a seminar on “Semitism” in which a number of top Arab scholars participated.

Arab scholar, isn't that an oxymoron? I mean unless the subject is sand.

Arabs cannot be anti-Semitic because they are Semites.

Just for the uninformed, I will explain how this is clearly false.

Look up the word "anti-semite" in this dictionary or the hardcover dictionary in your home or local library. You will find that like many words in the English Language, it has several definitions. One of the definitions is "a person with an animus towards Jewish people or Judaism". A second definition will say "a person with an animus towards semitic people".

Using those definitions, you can see how a semite can be anti-semite. A semite who hates Jews or Judaism is an anti-semite. There is no contradiction at all, it's just that the context tells you which definition of anti-semite applies.

Furthermore, the term anti-semite is different from the term semite. A semite is a person of semitic extraction, which includes the Jews. Anti-semite is a term developed later, which was specifically meant to descibe hatred of Jewish people, and later expanded to mean hatred of semitic people including Arabs.

Ignorant people living in the dark ages, like those putting on this exposition of hate, are just dumb haters. Their willingness to reinvent history and reinvent the definition of words to justify their political and religious causes proves their untrustworthiness. The lack of sensible people in their communities willing to confront their wicked ideology proves either their untrustworthiness, or the sheer fear that the good in their communities face for confronting them. Either way, it's not good. They need to be confronted, and if the good people in their communities can't or won't do it, the western world will have to.

Appeasement, or pretending to look the other way when these kinds of hateful events are held is a giant mistake. The western establishment media, political and religious authorities need to stand up for goodness in this world, if they truly want peace in the middle east. Ignorant people need to be education, not pacified and appeased.

I do not use the word "Anti-Semite" altogether. It was invented in the 1870's by a German Jew-hater, because he thought "Jew-hater" was too vulgar.

Call the thing what it is.

I prefer "Jew-hater" too, since there is no need to cloak the plain truth behind fancy words.

cast doubt on the U.S. account of who was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks.

Given the evidence, I pick the three-card Monte guys - who else could it have been?

"... whose speech focused on the idea that Arabs cannot be anti-Semitic because they are Semites."

Hey! Doesn't this guy post right here on FR??

What a stupid thing to give a speech about. Even though he's technically correct, the term is commonly understood to mean "Jew-hater", which aptly describes the Arabs/muslims.

This is like Ted Bundy arguing that he couldn't be considered a serial rapist if he'd never raped serial. It's too silly to take seriously.

They would do better to argue that Palestinians can't be Palestinians if there's never been a Palestine. I won't hold my breath.

In ten years there will be a total quarantine of islamic nations by the West. Non-muslims in muslim nations will be slaughtered, muslims in the West will be expelled or worse.

There will be an economic hit in the West, but the muslims will starve, unable to eat their oil or maintain their infrastructure.
