Consider the following:
INS stands by while terrorists flood borders!!
America stands by while DemoSlime pervert American political system!!
Californians stand by while Sacramento gradually erodes their right to keep and bear arms!!!
Parents stand by while government schools force-feed children a steady diet of humanism, atheism, and abject stupidity!!
Taxpayers stand by while their hard-earned tax dollars are wasted on multi-generational welfare deadbeats who will never be asked to behave like responsible adults!!!
Humans stand by while the whole freaking course of human nature is dictated by sub-humans, and there ain't a thing we can do about it!!!

Doesn't it give liberals a warm fuzzy feeling that cops are there to protect you? I'm sure you know this, but according to the Supreme Court the cops are under no obligation to protect anyone. They just have to take a report and investigate the crime, and make arrests. They don't have to protect anyone or prevent any crime if they don't want to.
For me, that's a compelling reason to carry heat. I don't because where I live it would make me a criminal to carry without a permit, and only .0004% (yes, .0004%!) of the citizenry have such a permit.

Cowering Cops use Store Clerk as Human Shield!
Maybe these cops got their training in Israel but that couldn't be true the Israeli's would have given the clerk a kevalar vest and told him to try to reason with the perp to surrender.

This is how the New York Stake-out teams worked, except they had the courtesy to notify the clerks about an impending robbery. They were finally disbanded because of their high kill rate.
